They should have put a trailer together and released it as soon as the leaks started appearing, with the games revealed in January or February. April is just far too late.
Well, in truth I had been determined to not get the next console for a number of reasons:
-I have a huge backlog
-I need to save money
-I feel let down by the appalling online service Nintendo has provided for Switch.
-I want to spend more time reading and writing.
But I am still potentially interested in the subject matter and gaming in general.
I think an iteration on the Switch is the right choice for Nintendo at this time, it's just that approach is only exciting if the new games look enticing.
As it is, the reveal was very lacklustre, quite probably because it was rushed due to the leaks.
Mario Kart looks bland to the point where, at the risk of contradicting myself, they probably would have been better off not revealing that yet.
I find it hard to believe that they are not far along enough with game development to show more.
If a game were to persuade me against my more austere judgement to get a Switch 2, it would probably be Smash.
There is no need for an April announcement if they're going to reveal details in the meantime.
As there have been so many leaks about the Switch 2 already,
I don't think it's a leap to imagine that there will be about the games in the next couple of months.
A positive I think is that it should clearly indicate that this is a separate console to Switch1, with the console actually evolving in the trailer, and of course the name, Switch 2.
Because a mere iteration on a console is not exciting without new games.
So the next 3-4 months will either see:
a) Dead air, leaden excitement.
b) Or leaks about the games, with Nintendo still not getting on top of the situation, which was seemingly the whole reason for this tepid Switch 2 reveal.
They must have games a reasonable way into development, it would have been far better to show at least a little, or commit to a Direct for February at the earliest.
I'm struggling to see why anyone would rush to get this console.
Right now I find it difficult to predict if this will be like PS2 or more akin to PS5.
Much might depend on the global economic situation, which I'm not confident will be in good shape by the time this console releases, seemingly June at the earliest.
The review talks about aspects that are lesser than the original release, and also mentions some things not ageing well; so that's your reduced score, put the straw away, stop making that scarecrow.

I have no interest in the mouse functionality whatsoever.
As you were.

At Retro.

I mean, no it won't matter to early adopters, but it's not early adopters that will determine whether Switch 2 is a success or not.

Well if there are that many people with more money than sense, maybe the UK economy is in better shape than I thought.

The King Dedede redesign was worse I think.

@DripDropCop146
Might have justified the price a bit more.
Re: Poll: What Do You Think Of Donkey Kong's Redesign In Mario Kart 9?
It is truly bizarre that they would release Returns yet again, without adding the DK redesign.
Surely the perfect opportunity for it.

Struggling to get excited about Switch 2.
Maybe I'm just getting old.
Re: Nintendo Switch 2: Everything We Know About Nintendo's Next Console
Splatoon 3 should have been for Switch 2,
Switch really did not need another entry.

Nintendo decided to barely show any games.
I might be less negative if they show more.
Nintendo have really bollocksed up this whole thing.

Re: Review: Donkey Kong Country Returns HD (Switch) - Aping A Retro Classic
Tried Returns on 3DS, always lacked soul for me.
Will probably give Tropical Freeze a chance this year.
Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Donkey Kong Country Returns HD
Clearly developed on the cheap, and overpriced.
I'd understand this more if Nintendo were struggling like the Wii U days.

I wasn't going buy this game anyhow,
but now I'm going to pretend that this is the reason why.

So it is a waste of money,
good to know.
Re: 'Nintendo Music' Adds Another Legendary Zelda Soundtrack, Here's Every Song Included
Huh, been a long time since I heard these tracks; the music is actually quite weak for a Zelda game isn't it?
Re: Rumour: 'Switch 2' Will Reportedly Be Officially Revealed This Thursday
Not focusing on games would be quite odd,
would seem all the leaks have brought the reveal forward.

Hentai Girls: Adorable Angel waits for no man.
@jco83
Oh right.
@Ulysses
I'm not even planning on getting a Switch 2,
and I'm interested in these leaks.
Re: So, Have You Pre-Ordered Donkey Kong Country Returns HD For Switch?
Difficult to describe just how little interest I have in this rererelease.

Damn, hope Red Dead Redemption 2 comes out on Switch as well.
Does it really require that much more power than the first one?
Re: Talking Point: Is The Switch 2 Going To Be Too Big?
Don't know about too big,
