Re: Gallery: Nintendo Gives Us A Closer Look At Its New Store In The US

Sadler indeed, he looks miserable.

Interesting to see Pokemon stuff there,
the Japanese stores don't have that, I guess because Pokemon Center stores are everywhere, sometimes even in the same building as a Nintendo store.
(By the way, if you ever go to the Nintendo store at the Shibuya Parco, of course also go to Pokemon Center, but also check out the Capcom store in that building)

How you fail to mention Delfino Square and Airship Fortress as standout DS tracks I don't know.

The Wii game began the approach of adding more racers and widening the tracks, thus ruining Mario Kart.
The balance between luck and skill with the items is completely gone by that point as well. No point hanging on to an item to defend yourself if lightening happens every ten seconds.
Sometimes less is more.

Re: Opinion: It's Time To Get Rid Of Fall Damage

Uncle_Franklin

Absolutely.

Fall damage adds nothing to a game to me,
it mostly seems to me a peculiar attempt to add 'realism' to games that otherwise pay no heed to it.
In most games it is not difficult to avoid the damage; it's just tedious.

Same with not being able to breathe underwater.

Re: Nintendo Direct: Mario Kart World: Every Announcement - How Would You Rate It?

Uncle_Franklin

24 racers on a track...
For me less is more.

Open world games can be great, I really don't think Mario Kart needed it.

I feel with a lot of franchises that Nintendo are, excuse the pun, running out of road.

As for price, Sonic Racing CrossWorlds is a lot cheaper; is Sega that much richer than Nintendo?
Presumably it's about Nintendo feeling they can get away with asking for $80 a game.
And maybe they're right, but the backlash to the price and the lukewarm reception to this direct suggest that may not be the case.

"But Nintendo have always been greedy, they've done research and this must be the right price!"
Like how they had to drop the 3DS price?
Like how they had to be persuaded to include Wii Sports with the console that became a runaway success?

Yes, Nintendo has always been about maximising profits like most companies, but let's not pretend that they always get that equation right.
