Re: EA Says Fifa 19 On Switch Will Build Upon Its Custom Engine To Improve Graphics

Shinobi1Kenoby

I bought FIFA 18 on Switch this week as amazon were selling it for £20 and figured it was worth that much.

What it did is:
•show an actually playable video game.
•minus some revolutionary features that were introduced on Wii U. Being able to organise substitutions on the touch screen while playing the game was an amazing feature. Having to pause to substitute is crap.
•revealed football, yet again and forever more, as the most boring and slowest sport ever conceived.

But the FUT mode has found me coming back for more and is actually a competent online gaming experience. Falls massively short of the 2K sports franchises-and even its cousins in the NHL and Madden form factors, but they are just better sports and translate into video game media more naturally, bit none the less, not bad EA. Improving on this and returning to Switch again for the 19 iteration might see me investing earlier than the price drop to £20 point in its lifecycle

@NEStalgia everything Sony has ever released has always been a “Me-Too!!!” Following a Nintendo innovation.

That being said, while ergonomics were perfectly rectified in the form of the GameCube controller, the N64 was a mikes more ergonomic than the cannablised SNES pad form factor of the appalling PsOne controller, and waaaasay more ergonomic than what sega were putting out. If anything the N64 controller was the first console controller to adopt an ergonomic consideration in its design.

@NEStalgia The N64!controller revolutionised everything in terms of controllers and brought everything forward a huge step just like the console.

3D analogue stick? The N64 Controller.
Rumble feedback? The N64 Controller.
Dual movement controls (now dual sticks) The N64 Controller
It was designed from its inception to give dual movement control without sacrificing the D-Pad, some games even went as far as letting you use two controllers per player to enable dual sticks if you wanted. Everything after was an idea taken from this controller.

WWF No Mercy.
Conkers Bad Fur Day
Rogue Squadron
Goldeneye
Paper Mario
Mischief Makers
LoZ: Ocarina of Time
LoZ: Majora’s Mask
Super Smash Brothers
F-Zero X
1080 Snowboarding
Donkey Kong 64
Banjo Kazooie
Banjo Tooie
Doom 64
Quake
Silicon Valley
Sin & Punishment
Star Fox 64
Excitebike 64
Mystical Ninja starting Goemon
Castlevania
Jet Force Gemini

Release those on it. Sort out the licensing whereby the publishers receive a nominal percentage of each unit sold.

Or release a first party one only that can connect to the Nintendo account and initialise a store where ex N64 developers can release their back catalogue on the hardware for a price and a percentage goes to Nintendo

@electrolite77 FIFA 95 brought football to video gaming that was playable. It’s brogutb nothing new since then and just got more crap and cash grabby ever since.

It is an appalling game. Loved only by people who sadly worship soccer and other wimp sports and idolise chavs being paid millions irrespective that the game they just paid £50 for is in fact a steaming pile of turd.

@gatorboi352 I honestly wouldn’t. I’ve got all formats and play all formats.

Ranked: 1-Switch 2-PS4 3-XBoxOne(of at all-worst for at ever made)

I played god of war 1 and 2. While mindless fun, they were brilliant games. By God of War III it was boring and I stopped playing around half way through and never went back to it. It was just dull. Never picked God of war up at all again after that. Wouldn’t buy the new one at all on any format. The series peaked at 2 definitely.

However, if you’ve never played any of the God of War games, this looks like the best one and probably where you should start and finish your experience of the franchise.

@Caryslan nope. Not that at all.

Those franchises have had their times when they’ve produced a good game. But to consistently chart top regardless of any discernible merit. Primarily EA sports games are the best example. They are all terrible, but FIFA will be a number one seller, in the UK only because of the plethora of chat culture we have that love video Hanes where they can play Football/shooting guns/pretend to be vin diesel in need for speed 32, or whatever they are up to now.
Probably half of the Uk Chart at most times will fall into the category of “Call of FIFA Diesel” and they are relatively turd, with sometimes a nugget of “that one was OK”
