The poor box didn't stand a chance against the artbook. Though I'm not sure if someone mishandled the package or if it was just subject to some unlucky forces while in a moving vehicle. That book is heavy.
One thing I remember about the original was the feeling of actually being stranded all on your own, and that never completely went away, and the entire place was hostile. Co-op goes entirely against that. And the aesthetic is the kind that just screams "I'm a video game" in the worst way, so any atmosphere and immersion seems dead on arrival as well.
Just... the opposite of what the original game was.
Chatting in games never appealed to me and never will. Hopefully it won't become an expectation or I'll rethink playing games online at all. I even muted that part of the trailrr after a few monutes because all the talking got unbearable.
My OLED is the Zelda one,but as someone who paid extra for the Splatoon joycons when my default ones started drifting too much, I'd love that for the Switch 2. (Not that Germany will ever offer something customizable...)
I'm pretty sure this is meant for when Little Timmy accesses the games on your Switch with his own. No one who borrows the console they're on would think to ignore the home menu in plain sight and go into the virtual card menu instead.
I'm not that interested in sharing games, but hopefully doing away with the primary/secondary system means that whenever I get a Switch 2 in the future, I can keep using both systems without one being subject to online check nonsense.
If they do something meaningful with it. But I can't help but think of the DS era and how you could tell when a game was designed for the touchscreen functionality and when they just shoehorned it in because it was the shiny new thing and it was pointless at best and made the game worse than it would've been with normal controls at worst. I'm already side-eyeing the Bravely Default remaster for the "minigames" mentioned in the trailer.
@Princess_Lilly It's not that they were trying to hide it or act like nothing ever happened. Quite the opposite, if shoehorning WW2 and the Holocaust into every single class when I went to school is any indicator. Really, it was everywhere. Fiction, nonfiction, the entire range from good to terrible beating you over the head with it so much it made you want to sue someone for assault. To this day I refuse to read anything even mildly WW2-flavored that isn't explicitly autobiographical because it was THAT bad at times. (That was in the early 2000s though, when people were actually serious about never letting it happen again; current politics make me wonder.)
I'm not how much of this still applies since I tend to stay away from most fiction, but it's simply that these depictions were (are?) allowed in art nd education, and at least back then, video games were considered neither. No idea about the reasons for separate releases in 2019, but it could be the violence. For some reason, Germany is really allergic to video game blood being red.
@Princess_Lilly What can be depicted in video games can get a little wild sometimes. Even one of the Wolfenstein games from a few years ago had a separate German version, though both that and the international version were available on our eShop.
Famously, people in the West understand the concept of baseball players better than that of checks notes an ordinary child (which seems to be a very Japanese concept)
Isn't it common for retailers to list announced products with placeholder dates and prices? Sure, people are excited for this one in particular, but it's certainly not something that only started happening "now."
@TommyTendo There is/was a mobile game that's been around for a while.
Anyway, I was willing to give Level-5 the benefit of the doubt because Fantasy Life was my favorite 3DS game, but with them screwing over Switch players with the early access thing, the apparently increased price, and especially no physical version, I'm out. They never inspired much confidence the way they're operating and I don't feel like supporting this anymore when they so clearly don't care.
I only got an OLED Switch because the battery on my old one lasted about five minutes and I liked the design of the Zelda one, but now that I have it, I'm not downgrading unless the price is low enough that I can justify buying the same console twice for no other reason.
I don't think "getting anywhere fast" was ever my priority when playing a game like this. Looks like it has a lot more to do than ACNH which, if I'm honest, was a pretty big letdown after New Leaf.
@Waveboy I get that they're probably doing it to keep the price low for a console that isn't established yet, but unfortunately I'm playing quite a lot in handheld mode and my OLED spoiled me. And I'm not one of the people who can afford to make buying consoles twice a regular habit (I only have an OLED because I really loved the design of the TOTK one and my old V1's battery barely lasted an hour playing Animal Crossing)
There are what, five of them? That's not much. 3D games one the other hand have been overdone to hell and back since they were first conceived. If something needs to take a break, it's those.
I'm either looking at the wrong game, or there's nothing in there that's even remotely on the same level as games like Moero Chronicle (USK/PEGI 16) and there are quite a few physical PEGI 18 titles out there that feature full frontal nudity and more (that still have 16 versions availble on the eShop). I doubt we've gone full censorship in such a short amount of time that this gets flagged for whatever there even is to censor while the many games about touching and undressing characters are perfectly fine.
"If you only have a view of the front of a church, the AI can take what it knows from thousands of scanned churches on a global scale and essentially 'complete' the model."
So you get hypothetical average churches everywhere? I have three of those within walking distance in my town and even those look nothing alike.
Would have been better if the incentive to use different echoes came from the game itself, but being able to use different solutions usually meant there was one "best" echo for everything. And maybe they should havd cut down on the bloat that is completely useless echoes. What do we need four different jar designs for? I was sure there would at least be a side quest involving those, but no.
I liked both of them and if I ever get back to my series playthrough I'll 100% them again. I'm much more bothered by the European version missing an upgrade and one of the fusions being bugged.
What was supposed to be confusing about it? Big handheld device that you could take places and also put in a thing to connect it to a TV. Seemed straightforward enough to me?
@fenlix Yeah, what was up with that? I've seen the same sentiment on other sites too. Now that I've played a bit, it's definitely the kind of game I want to play as blind as possible, but like, in a normal experiencing the game for myself way, not the "whatever you do, don't look up a single thing about this game!!" way seemingly everyone has been pushing.
I can't say for sure if I have battery issues or if it was just the specific games I played in handheld since the update (more likely, the second round of ACNH was fine) but I definitely had issues with extremely slow download speeds the past week.
It's nice that we can get on the float now, I never even got into 100x battles in most Splatfests. But my favorite part is the scales in capsules. Getting to a boss in the random queue is a pain.
Gotta keep my old copy around for nostalgia purposes, but the more Suikoden games, the better. Hopefully these are successful enough to port the rest of the series as well.

Re: Where To Pre-Order Nintendo Switch 2
When they claimed they will take "all possible measures" against scalpers, I didn't expect that to mean that I must prove I'm worthy of buying one...
Didn't they claim they have enough for everyone who wants to preorder? Even on Amazon you have to through the invitation system.
Re: First Impressions: Nintendo Switch 2 'Wows' Most When You Go Back To Your Old Switch
