Not buying one at launch. I'm buying it when they announce Splatoon 4. When that happens, I'll buy a travel case, a micro SD Express card, and the inevitable Splatoon 4 branded Pro Controller.
Since Monster Prom 4: Monster Con comes out on Steam in April, probably a long shot to expect the XXL Switch port by December. One can hope.Tomodachi Life, either new game or a 3DS port, Luigi's Mansion, Kirby's Epic Yarn, Twilight Princess.
Sometimes I've tried to get a Shiny Pokémon by using items and other tricks designed to increase your chances of getting one to spawn. They never do, or perhaps I simply give up "too early" in the process after wasting two hours. I do have some Shinies, but they're either from Max Raids where Nintendo purposefully increased the odds, or a random Max Raid which I acknowledge could have been forcefully spawned by some hacker group.
I don't think white ink teams would be so popular if white ink was part of the regular rotation of ink colors. Of the three, I do like white chocolate the best. However, my Splat mates have elected for Team Dark Chocolate, so I shall be fighting for my least favorite chocolate.
Registered for NYC on April 4th! Really hoping I get in. I've never been to a big video game event like this. I hope everyone on NL who registers gets in!
@NintendoWife I think the biggest reason people like backwards compatibility is so they don't have a lot of consoles lying around their place. Also, they can sell their Switch 1 and get a Switch 2 for a discount but still keep their old library of games.
The Japanese and Europe cover have a 1990s Sonic the Hedgehog vibe to it, which certainly sells the idea that this is a good platformer worth checking out. The NA cover though...
I have bad eyesight and always went with the biggest possible handheld model over the years, and I've purchased the various peripherals that let you play Game Boy on your TV. The screen size of the original Switch and Steam Deck are perfect for me.
@N00BiSH That and the 3D Classics line went nowhere quick, which I'm sure discouraged more conversion to 3D, be it NES games or Virtual Boy. A shame, because I liked the idea of the 3D Classics line. Excitebike was great and I like what they did with Urban Champion, but Urban Champion sucks regardless. That was never going to sell well.
I played the demo unit at Toys R Us a lot. Wario Land was a fun platformer, and I found the 3D effect intriguing, but not nearly enough to ask for one, even when they went on clearance. Saved that money for a Game Boy Color instead and I made the better choice. I do wish they at least released Wario Land on the 3DS.
Should people play the original hardware? Maybe if a convention or a retro game store has one set up for people to try, just for the experience. If you can handle the 3D on a 3DS, that's a much better way to play.
If a game is good at launch, people tend to forget that the game was initially delayed. Example: Red Dead Redemption 2 had several delayed release dates. Years later, no one remembers. But games with a bad launch, Assassin's Creed Unity, No Man's Sky, Cyberpunk 2077, people are still asking "is it playable? Has it been sufficiently patched?" Obviously, yes, those games are in a much better state now then at launch, but people remember.
I'm not a football fan but if I had a dedicated rec room, I'd want a shirt(s) in a frame on the wall, like a precious jersey. It just screams "hang me in your retro gaming room like a trophy."
I think the music could have been rearranged differently to better suit the song. If one is rapping over the virtually unedited theme (no a drum machine doesn't count) then I'd expect the lyrics to be Mario related.
Basic answer, but I prefer the NES version for the nostalgia. Playing SMB 3 always takes me back to playing it with my older cousins and having a blast.
I wouldn't call it indestructible. The cartridge slot stopped working 2 months after the warranty expired. Nintendo refused to do anything for me. I replaced it with the New 2DS XL.
However, I will say that as a handheld, it was surprisingly quite comfortable to hold. The shoulder buttons were big and solid, a major difference to all other 3DS models. I had the sea green and white model, a pleasant color palette compared to the other options.
Will this effect local Pokemon trading? I own two 3DS models and physical carts of all the mainline 3DS Pokemon games. Will I still be able to trade Pokemon between them?
I thought Streetpass was dead in 2019. I could not, and still can not, register tags between my two 3DS systems and my friends' systems. Nothing is disabled. All systems work just fine and play games just fine. I can locally trade Pokemon between everyone's systems. We just can't register Streetpass tags. I thought Nintendo disabled the feature somehow.
I bought a few because I liked the design. The only time I would buy for their function is the wedding set for Super Mario Odyssey but I'm not paying anything above retail. I think amiibos are on a very slow way out.
The NA box art looks like it could be the book cover for a swords-and-sorcery fantasy novel. I like. The Japanese looks very intriguing, but Christopher Belmont's face looks horrible, like he's a zombie or Frankenstein's monster. It's a close match, but I went with NA.
Persona 5 Royal was a lifeline during the lockdown of 2020. I was able to simulate a normal lifestyle and "have a social life" of sorts with the Phantom Thieves. I extended the already long play time with extra hours spent grinding in Mementos and fusing Personas in the Velvet Room. When Persona 5 Strikers came out, I was vaccinated and carefully going back into my normal routine, but it felt like I was reunited with old friends and our adventures would continue.
My favorite 3D Mario title hands down. I'm buying my 6-year-old cousin a copy to sit aside the Switch Santa's bringing her (I hope) this Christmas. I may have to help the fat man out trying to find one. The original Super Mario Bros was my first platformer. It'll be an honor to make Mario Odyssey hers.
Unless they add more N64 titles, like Kirby and the Crystal Shards and Pokemon Puzzle League, it's a hard pass. However, I do thank them for including Gunstar Heroes and Ristar. I highly recommend playing both if you never have and if you're getting the sub. Absolutely fantastic games.
The original three-button Sega controller is certainly iconic, but I've grown to prefer the six-button arcade controller regardless if a particular game uses the extra buttons or not.
If I was a handheld player, I would have absolutely jumped on the classic neon red/blue. The OLED screen really makes a difference. I primarily play on my OLED 4K HDTV so I did not upgrade.
"modern gameplay enhancements" I hope this means the control scheme will be more in line with modern games. I have such a difficult time playing the original versions. Super stoked!
I wonder if "permanently destroy all unauthorized Nintendo games or other unauthorized copies of Nintendo’s intellectual property" would be satisfied by a mere hard drive wipe or a dramatic smashing of said hard drives.
It got to the point that if I was at home, I played my Game Boy games on the Super Game Boy and only played on the Game Boy while traveling. My parents loved it, saving a fortune on batteries.
Here's my question though: what would be considered a proper "handheld" size by consumers? In the 3DS heyday, a lot of people disliked the XL version, whether it was OG XL or New XL, claiming it was "too big" for their pockets. But smartphones are all about the big screen these days. Is that "too big" for people's pockets, or does the thinness compensate?
I used to average 100 Streetpass hits a day in New York for years, but I haven't gotten a hit anywhere since 2019. I loved Streetpass, one of the best features of the system.
I recently went back into my Streetpass collection looking for Miis to use in Miitopia. If I couldn't import the Mii directly, I'd recreate it as best as I could.
No Charles Martinet? He wasn't even considered? What the heck? He's iconic. Well, Captain Lou Albano and Bob Hoskins, despite everything, were pretty good so I hope this new person will be okay. I'll most likely see it in theaters but will not sub to Peacock. 4 services are more than enough.
Once, while waiting for a bus in a large transport station, I saw two people huddled around a Switch in tabletop mode, using sideways Joy-Cons while playing. My jaw dropped. I often frequent a large city and I never see people play on their Switch although someone with a 3DS was a common sight in the past.
I primarily play docked and the rare times I don't, it's far more handheld mode than tabletop mode, and never local multiplayer. I play local multiplayer on a TV.

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Jet Set Radio (Dreamcast)
Glad the US changed the name back to the original. Jet Grind Radio doesn't have the same ring as Jet Set Radio. I chose Europe.
