Poll: Which Switch 2 Accessories Are You Picking Up At Launch?

I’ll be keeping my switch 2 in my house for the first little bit after launch, so I’ll get a third party case later. I’ll also get an sd card when I need it. Other than that, I don’t care for any of the other accessories right now.

Since there already is some gameplay integration, and I'd imagine there will be more, I grabbed the camera. I'll likely get a charging grip and another set of joy con 2, eventually. I've always preferred the joy cons in the grip to the pro controller, and I expect that will continue with Switch 2.

I was thinking on getting my Switch 2 some rectangular, silver-colored glasses to give it some sophistication, and maybe even a striped tie.

I went my entire NS1 lifespan without purchasing a single accessory. I’m going to do everything in my power to do the same for the NS2!

The Switch I got from Best Buy was a bundle with an SD express card, and I'm pretty sure that's why I was able to preorder, because nobody wanted the bundles. Otherwise I did end up getting a Pro 2 controller, because I had a Best Buy gift card.

as much as i'd love the pro-controller on day one, the price of everything is already just too expensive so it's going to be deltarune, the console and mario kart world for me and nothing more

A Switch 2 case (for ease of carrying with me), an MicroSD Express (just to play safe for storage over the next few months) and the Street Fighter 6 amiibo card starter pack (because I'm getting SF6 as my launch title)

Personally, I don't feel the need to rush to get all accessories. I don't NEED them so early in the systems lifespan or at all. Whether people feel the same way as me, I don't know.

I already ordered a micro SD express from Amazon. Apart from that, I'd also like to get an additional dock but jeez, I've just checked the price out and it's 120 bucks lol I could get a 2nd hand switch 1 tablet for that price.

@Friendly according to those who have used it, it's been touted as the best controller that they've used, specifically with the sticks and how smooth they are, it also weighs less, takes less time to charge (3.5 hours instead of 6.5) and is a little bit smaller

Obviously on the top of the accessories list is a good sized MicroSD-EX. That's gonna be important down the line. I'd like to also get my mitts on a traveling case at some point.

I got the bundle, an express 256Gb card and the case+screen protection.

I would have loved a bigger card, the pro controller and the wheels ... but that seemed unreasonable at the time. I kind of regret now, but I will be playing with that thing for years, so there's plenty of time to spend more money down the road.

Waiting to see what the games situation will be .... price and storage wise.
I want to keep collecting physical games. Please don't ruin this for me. Digital has no justifications whatsoever besides greed. Don't make the world a worst place than it really needs to be.

I'm not sure when I'll get around to it, but I'd like to have a case and the GameCube controller, though I plan on mostly sticking to my Switch 1 pro controllers if I can. As for the microsd, I'd ideally like to wait until I can get a 1TB one for less than $100, but we'll have to see how long I can last on the Switch 2's built-in storage, especially with how few third parties are aiming for proper physical releases.

I really want the carrying case cause gaming at work during breaks is a must, plus my colleagues are gonna totally want to see the machine up close. Then, a Pro Controller and the GameCube controller. I’ll wait for the rest cause the price for “official” microSD Express cards is just insane, considering future games might take a lot more space.

The camera kind of depends on other friends getting one, because there's no point if they don't at this time.

Pre-ordered the Mario Kart World bundle, Pro Controller, and carrying case w/screen protector. I decided to hold off for now on the MicroSD Express card, and I might pick up Cyberpunk 2077 on launch (absolutely LOVE that game).

I have Donkey Kong Bananza pre-ordered as well, but that is obviously my July game.

I realized something yesterday and wanted to get people’s opinion. Mario Party Jamboree + Jamboree TV these are CDN prices… 115 for for the game, which like is Jamboree TV worth 35 dollars? And to my understanding you need the camera to play Jamboree TV, and that’s 70.

Even as a life long Nintendo fan… are we really expected to pay 185+tax for Mario Party?

Getting Pro and Joy-Con2 charge because of the GS, GL buttons. Got two Switch 2/MKW bundle will get games later. I plan first to get the upgrade for BOTW/TOTK. And then see what comes later if I upgrade my Switch 1 games or get Switch 2 games. I got some but will wait until closer to June 5. Carry case and protector you can find 3rd party on Amazon right now? Sure if you want Switch 2 case but if you get something like Genki gripcase and case hold will that Grip fit into the Switch 2 case holder???

@jake1421 Good question. I don’t think it has been confirmed yet (i.e if the Switch 2 controller will work with Switch 1).

I haven't pre-ordered the Switch 2 yet, but I would like Nintendo to produce (and market of course) a special left Joy-con edition with an actual D-pad on it for us (casual?) handheld fighting games (and arcade and 2D games too) "aficionados".

I would gladly pay up to 60€ for it and pre-order it in an instant (just to make sure I got it). Please let it happen!

@shgamer hori makes a good left joycon with a real dpad. Only catch is no wireless, handheld only. I'm sure they'll have a switch 2 version coming. Nintendo isn't going to do it.

thing i hate about buying frontrow, is that you buy games you actualy do not want to own, because of drought.

For now just the system until I figure out the game logistics of what I am transferring and how it works when you have a switch and switch 2 active. Plus my focus will be on switch games for the next two years (my wish list is hovering around 500 between both eshops). Especially since my purchases from now on will be digital only. I probably won’t have more than 10 switch 2 only games until 2027. Plus I already bought the amiibo.

Afterwards I will get a storage case (the all in one), a screen protector, the camera, a procon2, a travel case (although the plan is to leave the s2 home) and a 2TB card when they hit the market and the gamecube NSO controller. No need for joycon2s until colors/special editions come out. Excuse for a new fightstick though.

A lot of it will depend on my second job search. Depending on where I end up will determine how much disposable income I can toss at the system. The economic climate in the US is curbing my spending heavily.

Nothing before an express micro card, as that's gonna come in handy faster than not. Hoping that all the PowerA wireless controllers I already have work just fine.

Already got a pack of third party screen protectors; will get a third party case before launch. Other than those necessities I’m in no rush to buy anything else.

Honestly fair play to Nintendo for supporting the old controllers though. Not defending the prices for the new stuff but it’s not that huge of a deal when the old accessories (and by extension cheaper third party ones) will still work just fine.

GameCube controller. Although I'm not getting a Switch 2, I would like to get a GCN controller to "complete" my NSO controller set/collection. Now if by chance I'm gifted a Switch 2, I'll take the GCN controller out of the box and use it for the GCN app.

Is there any reason people are ordering the joycon straps already? The console already comes with a pair and the joy con sets come with a pair as well.

Still waiting for the pre-order date in my country, but given the price I can’t justify any accessories for now. I’ll just keep my Pro Controller until I can afford Pro 2. In the future I also want an MicroSD card, but it’s not a must-have for now (unlike the Switch that lauched with barely enough storage for a single game).

In all seriousness, an extra set of joy cons, a Pro controller and maybe the joy con charging grip. I'll probably pick up storage afterward when a good deal comes along. I don't envision downloading enough to fill the onboard memory before Black Friday deals come around.

The Pro Controller is a popular choice, you love to see it. I never used the Joycons for the Switch 1 unless it was required, as the Pro Controller is much better, and I’ll do the same thing for the Switch 2. I also got a carrying case and 1 TB Express card.

I dont want anything right away. I'll get a micro sd eventually when my system storage fills up, but I think that will take a while since I primarily buy physical games. I will also get a carrying case at some point when I can find one for cheap. Finally, I'm thinking about getting the new pro controller, but since the old controllers work with it I don't know if its really worth it.

I think if you have any intention of buying digital games, or any third party title except Cyberpunk, the SD card is a must have as early as possible. I really want the GameCube controller for my collection. Anything else, I will pick up down the line

Gonna try getting charging grip. I rarely play on my tv, so pro controller is an unnecessary expense, but the normal grip feels very good to me (smol hands), and the back buttons will be very nice, just for the option. Couldn’t get a pre order, so gonna try to go to Costco day 1 for the Switch 2 + MKW + NSO+expansion pack bundle. My NSO recently ran out, so this would be good timing. Since it comes with NSO+, gonna also try for gc controller.

I won’t be picking any up at launch. I’ve no interest in the camera or chat, and I have a switch 1 pro controller which will serve me well for a while. I do fancy a pro controller 2 but happy to hold off. The console and a couple of launch games will do me for a while.

I'm probably just gonna get the carrying case plus screen protector and mabye the new mirco sd card just to add a little bit more space but other than that that's pretty much I'll i need.

Just the Pro Controller 2 for me. Everything I've heard about it so far makes it sound like the perfect iteration of the Switch version. Particularly the silky smooth control sticks and more precise D-pad. Hopefully it can live up to the hype.

This might sound really stupid, but why are the Joy-Con Straps being sold separately. Aren’t they bundled with the Joy-Cons? All the pictures of the box show them with straps.

@JakeNorthcote you get so e with the console, so this is either spares or they aren't included in the extra joycons.

I'll be getting the camera, my daughters are going to love that local Mario Kart implementation.

I will be looking out for some "armour" for it, I'm sure my youngest will get her hands on it and she will drop it.

I managed to pre-order both a Switch 2 MKW bundle AND a Pro Controller 2, but couldn't get the powered grip nor the extra dock. Will have to snag those later.

They didn't put out a decent case and the express cards are too expensive right now. The old pro controller works fine and no cords or anything need upgrades.

The only people I see buying anything are collectors with more money than sense.

I'm focusing on accessories for the first year, so express microSD card for sure, and if my Switch 1 power cord doesn't work, then I'll consider an AC adapter. I've made due with my Switch power cord and separate adapter just fine-- Just need to know NS2's power requirements and I can figure it out from there. I don't "need" the NS2 Pro Controller, but I've always wanted a second pro controller anyway, and it's apparent "sexiness" is irresistible, so I will pursue that, too. 2026 I will pursue NS2 and it's games.

Might get either a Pro Controller or a Gamecube one, that's it. Will get an SD card for it at some point but for the time being I'm planning to mostly stick to playing my Switch 1 games on the Switch 1 so it'll probably be awhile before I need it.

I assume the original pro controller will work with switch 2? As long as it does I won’t be buying any accessories.

I usually don't buy accessories until after a few months. Then I'll probably buy a Travel case, second ac adapter, pro controller and micro sd express.

@DwaynesGames Good question. I don’t think it has been confirmed yet (i.e if the Switch 2 controller will work with Switch 1).
From little info I can find it sounds like it doesn't Switch 1 controllers will work on Switch 2 but not the other way around and probably has to do with the "C" and backpaddles are configured differently since those most likely are for Switch 2 only games. So I have to look more to see but I don't think Switch 2 Pro/Joy-Con will work in reverse.

Just a dbrand killswitch case on order and some ivoler glass screen protectors that arrived weeks ago. I'll wait until 2 terabyte Express cards are available for under $200 before I get more memory.

Already got my Satisfye Zengrip 2. It can fit in the dock now without having to take it out.

The Gamecube controller price next to the N64 controller price looks nonsensical now. Charging 50% more for such a similar product is a real turnoff. I understand price increases but not to this extreme. It comes across as trying to claw back potential future costs wherever possible, without looking at it through the lens of the consumer or applying common sense.

They could have always increased prices if higher inflation or tariffs became a reality. Now, their family friendly image, regardless of its genuity, is slowly becoming eroded as a result. So disappointing.

Now don't get me wrong, I have pre-ordered a Switch 2 and still look forward to launch day with immense optimism but I'll be minimizing future peripheral purchases going forward, as I'm sure many others will be as well.

Honestly, none. At least for now. I have all my controllers from my OG Switch, so I'm good there. Might pick up the case and screen protector if anything, but not too sure just yet. I know I'll have to get an SD card at some point, but I'm already spending a lot of money at the moment, so I'll wait a few on that, lol

I only play docked and the Pro controller on the switch has been a god send over those terrible joycons.
So it will be the same with switch 2.

I sorta want to hold off on the procon 2 and see what designs they come out with. But I will get one no matter what.

One of the least exciting things to get may be one of the most important. It looks like SD cards will be pretty crucial unless you don’t want many games. Combine the file sizes we’re hearing about and the amount of downloading required even for “physical” versions, and that built in storage won’t be any better than the Switch 1’s 32GB. It’s going to fill up fast with the amount of over 50GB titles that you have to devote space to once you buy your plastic keys.

I like playing games and consoles exactly as intended. So I use joycons even when playing in docked mode. Don’t need any extras!

Also don’t care for the grip anyway. I LOVE having my arms and individual joy cons resting comfortably at my sides. I’m 6’3” and I never thought Joy cons were too small. Nintendo always has the best controllers. I know it’s not the most popular opinion amongst gamers but IMO joy cons loose at my sides are much better than classic gaming controllers where you have to hold both hands together in front of you.

Pre-ordered the Satisfye S2 grip&case bundle back in Feb, pre-ordered the S2 with MKW from GameStop, two S2 Pro controllers from Walmart (which, with my S1 black and S1 XC2 pro controllers, will be enough for 4 player MKW with the kids), and a Zagg InvisibleShield screen protector (coming May 6th). I may decide to get an SD card pre-launch, but still undecided. Needless to say I'm quite hyped for June 5th.

I don't get anything at launch anymore I haven't in a long time. I like to wait a bit maybe a half year to a year and then you start getting the special addition versions of the console.

Honestly nothing. I am going to see if I actually get one first, then I will probably only get a case for it and a screen protector and eventually an SD card. The way the Switch 2 is coming from the factory I should have enough storage to last me the early launch era and I doubt I will even dock it.

Definitely gotta get on that Switch 2 Pro Controller. A second set of Joy-con 2's(For docked play), that NSO GameCube Controller, and a 1TB microSD Express.

Plus a 65" Samsung S90F QD-OLED & a RetroTINK4K scaler, so i can wipe out 50% of that pesky OLED clarity motion blur. Once 180hz QD-OLED TV's land in spring 2026, I'll be able to reduce it by about 68%, which nearly matches the best of the best plasma tv's.

Still no CRT though, but we'll probably get there by 2030, with 240hz TV's combined with future advanced TINK scalers with better black frame insertion implementation. Bring back the glory days of CRT I say. In another 5 years, it's pretty much official.

A tempered glass screen protector, AMfilm techmatte has them already and they are not expensive at all! Though I am going to get a micro ex sd card once they become more readily available.

None! Nothing to do with money either. All the Switch controllers work so that cancels the need for Switch 2 ones. A memory card will be a purchase "as needed". No point in rushing out with mad money to buy something that could be years away from needing. I only ever bought a 256gb card for my Switch and it's only 70% full six years later.

I'm not someone that needs to carry around my entire library either. Games get archived if completed or I lost interest. Not that I needed to do that with the Switch's card.

Surprised about the micro sd express low levels of orders. If you want your switch 1 digital library, some third party titles (digital or key cards). It’s not long before your 256gb is full.

I probably will get a carry case before long, but nothing else at first. I quite recently replaced my switch 1 pro controller so will stick with that for now and maybe get a switch 2 one when they release a splatoon or Zelda version or something that catches my eye.

And I think the 256gb storage should see me for a few months at least as I don’t need loads of big games loaded at once, so I may as well wait until the price of those super duper sd cards drops before getting one.

i did the piranha camera, pro en gc controllers.. hope i can wait a bit for the memory to get cheaper.. now have a 512 gb, so i probably would need a 1,5 tb in... ai..

Just the carry case and screen protector.

I hope its solid, unlike the original switch carry case with was very bendy. I upgraded to the BotW hard case, but now the outside is flaking off.

Also definitely getting a Killswitch (the name gets me every time) case at launch - already reserved it and everything. I'm going to be almost immediately taking my Switch 2 traveling so I figure it'll be worth the investment.

I'm getting the Pro 2 controller at launch. Even though I thought about waiting a while on that, I decided to go for it anyway since I won't get another one until Splatoon 4 gets its own custom Pro 2 whenever that launches, which won't be until late next year at the earliest. I'll get at least a solid year of the OG.

Not buying one at launch. I'm buying it when they announce Splatoon 4. When that happens, I'll buy a travel case, a micro SD Express card, and the inevitable Splatoon 4 branded Pro Controller.
