This is always so fascinating. I'm working as a graphic artist for over 10 years now and sometimes I'm very sure people would pick a certain option and then it turns out it's exactly the opposite... I was sure people would pick the western version . Great A/B testing
@Jireland92 If something is a flop or not comes down to the expectation. Imagine Tears of the Kingdom would only have gotten a 82 on Metascore. It would be kinda of a flop. When it comes to sales it's the same, when an Indie sells 200k units its great, if Square Enix sells 200k units of Final Fantasy 7 rebirth, it's a flop. I expected (and pretty sure most Nintendo players) that Princess Peach, Another Code, Endless Ocean and Mario vs Donkey Kong are better games than what they are. We can argue now what a flop exactly is but I'm very very sure you understand my point exactly and I'm on the other hand not sure why you argue against it. The first party year is a big disappointment so far.
@Jireland92 Good for you. But still the game was pretty mediocre. The Metascore is at 74, this is far below what Nintendo usually targets... and that happened to alle their games so far this year... Another code: 73 Mario Vs Donkey Kong: 76 Endless Ocean: 66
and we are already about to com into the 5th month of the year... and except of two remasters, there is NOTHING on the horizon...
@Jireland92 I guess the sales have been ok, but if the game was better and it would have sold a lot more... Anyways I was more talking about the quality anyways an Peach was mediocre not great.
@Maubari You as a consumer do not have much of sales except of that the company can make more games and we don't have to worry in that regard... No I was talking about the quality of the games and they all disappointed in my opinion...
@sanderev for some companies that means, be more like fortnite... but for others this is will be just less expansive graphics, presentation etc... this can even be good for the games quality overall.
the more complex a game becomes (tech wise) the more difficult and expansive it is to make changes and adjustments that improves the gameplay.
I also could imagine we see more often the Dave the diver approach
I think 70 stays but I also think that development costs are going to sink a bit since those big AAA games are just to expansive for what they are.
we need a more healthy game development ecosystem for small and big companies (mainly for the smaller ones since the big once are making billions anyways with their live service crap)
@Kiyata there are game store who do excellent but they sell you an experience. game stop has to come up with a concept that makes buying there exciting. there will always be physical games even though it gets less. the same for music and film
i think i would like this a lot more if you just could unlock those items by unlocking them in their games. could be a good achievement replacement system. but just opening the game to get them is lame
I'm very honest here I like the steam world games because they are excellent. Do I like the Steam World universe? no, not a bit. I think it's boring and I prefer Steam World build to have a different IP attached to it.
@nocdaes to be fully honest I think physical video games are not the issue that solves global warming. I'm pretty sure for every SUV car that drives a year you produce more wast than with 100s of switch game boxes... and for some reason people still need those big cars even they live in the city... just one example... if you want i can give you dozens more like having a new phone every 1-2 years etc...
I'm happy about any cartridges as long as they games are fully on them. its going to get worse for sure than on the switch but it's likely going to be the last system where you can own your games...
SquareEnix has now two options. either the next entry is going to get more budget and with that a better tech and art direction or they realized they can sell cheap games since fans of monster collecting games don't care.
For me Paper Mario is like From Software games. They are fantastic if you play one rarely. I think the timing based battle system is just to nerve wrecking if too many games have it. And recently too many games had such a battle system.
if one comes before switch 2 release it won't have a lot of new Nintendo games and only c tear games (the new ones). everything big, even if its Crossplatform, is going to be shown at the switch 2 reveal
ok my first thought was "yeah ofc we need a remake" but then I thought a bit more. if you improve the graphic too much the fantasy doesn't work anymore. it worked on NES because it was so heavily stylized that your brain interpolated the missing information. So you would need to remake in a big way which would essentially be a new game then.
a possible way would be to still have rather stylized pixel art but add a lot of quality of life improvements.
@Thomystic They do not look like Rare veterans to be honest, they are far too young. My guess is that no one from the golden eye team is left at free radical. So why should they hire them?
the last time I was so excited for sega was during the dreamcast era.
If they reboot Phantasy Star online properly I would buy any console to play it. And I mean not that Phantasy Star Universe nonsense, that went in the completely wrong direction

Re: Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes Team Gearing Up For "Major Switch Patch Announcement"
even if they fix it, it won't be on the cartridge, which sucks. I prefer delaying the physical version and making it a finished version

@Nico85
Thats the reason I hate the comment section of websites. Here are all the nitpicky fans
Re: Review: Endless Ocean: Luminous (Switch) - A Meditative Marine Milieu, But Incredibly Shallow
@kevin74 Yes thats true but that is not a good excuse. the 3DS had in it's last month some great games (Metroid Samus Returns)

uff... not a good year for nintendo so far... most of their games flopped... from another code to this to princess peach...
Re: The First Review For Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes Is In
hmm usually famitsu gives those sort of games good reviews, so I'm a bit cautious...
Re: Nintendo Has Confirmed It Won't Be At Gamescom This Year
sounds for me like they have nothing to show wich means second half of the year might look as dry as the first half...
Re: Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising Is The Next Nintendo Switch Online Free Game Trial (Europe)
this is nice and the first time i will use the free trail
Re: QubicGames' Switch eShop Sale Takes Over 100 Games Down To Just $0.20 Each

there are cool game stores and then there are game stops... they are not able to make proper changes
Re: Animal Well Brings Pretty Platforming And Creepy Creatures To Switch This May
looks great. if they come up with a physical version I'll buy it
Re: Poll: Do You Want To See 'Super Mario Bros. Wonder 2'?
the guys who voted for "give me more" can you explain why you prefer more instead something new?

for some reason i love the simplicity of the japanese cover

Re: Talking Point: Do You Want To See Colourful Cartridges Return For 'Switch 2'?

ah maybe this is a missunderstanding. I think your totally right on the code in a box thing. I thought you meant physicals cartridges.

@Buizel If I would be digital only I would need several 1tb sd cards since I have something between 200 and 300 physical games...

Re: Random: Square Enix & Foamstars Producer Is Bored Of Splatoon Comparisons
there is no single AA or AAA video game anymore without AI art used in at least a little bit of development
Re: Team Solo Is Splatoon 3's Holiday Splatfest Champion
makes a lot of sense. the alone ones have more time to play splatoon and thats why they are better

Re: When Will The First Nintendo Direct Of The Year Be? Let's Look To The Past
@Lizuka they want to have a zelda game every year so it's not unlikely that we get another port. any new zelda game I would expect on the next system.

Re: Nintendo Switch Was The Console With The Most Game Releases In 2023
@Nintendo_Thumb the NES was not even close to the Switch when it comes to shovelware
Re: Nintendo Switch Was The Console With The Most Game Releases In 2023
and with the most bad scam games that make it worse for the well crafted games to stand out.
Re: Square Enix To Be "Aggressive In Applying" AI Going Forwards
their games will just feel even more like products and even less like a work of art how it was when sakagutchi still was there

Re: TimeSplitters Dev Free Radical Has Shut Down As Staff Share "Last Day" Messages
looking at their age i think none of them must be from the original Time Splitters team.
