Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: Demon's Crest (SNES)

This is always so fascinating. I'm working as a graphic artist for over 10 years now and sometimes I'm very sure people would pick a certain option and then it turns out it's exactly the opposite...
I was sure people would pick the western version .
Great A/B testing

@Jireland92
If something is a flop or not comes down to the expectation. Imagine Tears of the Kingdom would only have gotten a 82 on Metascore. It would be kinda of a flop.
When it comes to sales it's the same, when an Indie sells 200k units its great, if Square Enix sells 200k units of Final Fantasy 7 rebirth, it's a flop.
I expected (and pretty sure most Nintendo players) that Princess Peach, Another Code, Endless Ocean and Mario vs Donkey Kong are better games than what they are.
We can argue now what a flop exactly is but I'm very very sure you understand my point exactly and I'm on the other hand not sure why you argue against it. The first party year is a big disappointment so far.

@Jireland92
Good for you. But still the game was pretty mediocre. The Metascore is at 74, this is far below what Nintendo usually targets... and that happened to alle their games so far this year...
Another code: 73
Mario Vs Donkey Kong: 76
Endless Ocean: 66

and we are already about to com into the 5th month of the year... and except of two remasters, there is NOTHING on the horizon...

Re: Saber Interactive CEO Doesn't Think $70 Video Games Are Sustainable

@sanderev
for some companies that means, be more like fortnite... but for others this is will be just less expansive graphics, presentation etc...
this can even be good for the games quality overall.

the more complex a game becomes (tech wise) the more difficult and expansive it is to make changes and adjustments that improves the gameplay.

I also could imagine we see more often the Dave the diver approach

Re: Saber Interactive CEO Doesn't Think $70 Video Games Are Sustainable

I think 70 stays but I also think that development costs are going to sink a bit since those big AAA games are just to expansive for what they are.

we need a more healthy game development ecosystem for small and big companies (mainly for the smaller ones since the big once are making billions anyways with their live service crap)

Re: Talking Point: Do You Want To See Colourful Cartridges Return For 'Switch 2'?

@nocdaes to be fully honest I think physical video games are not the issue that solves global warming. I'm pretty sure for every SUV car that drives a year you produce more wast than with 100s of switch game boxes... and for some reason people still need those big cars even they live in the city... just one example... if you want i can give you dozens more like having a new phone every 1-2 years etc...

Re: Soapbox: It's Time For A Zelda 1 Remake, Please

jojobar

ok my first thought was "yeah ofc we need a remake" but then I thought a bit more. if you improve the graphic too much the fantasy doesn't work anymore. it worked on NES because it was so heavily stylized that your brain interpolated the missing information.
So you would need to remake in a big way which would essentially be a new game then.

a possible way would be to still have rather stylized pixel art but add a lot of quality of life improvements.

Re: Sega Plans To Revive Even "More" Legacy Franchises

the last time I was so excited for sega was during the dreamcast era.

If they reboot Phantasy Star online properly I would buy any console to play it. And I mean not that Phantasy Star Universe nonsense, that went in the completely wrong direction
