Re: Soapbox: After 10 Years I'm Finally Getting A Wii U, But Where Should I Start?

HistoricKombat

You are very much buying a Wii U for what exclusives are left on it. Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD, Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD, Star Fox Zero and Xenoblade Chronicles X. I know these were already recommended but that is just how it is.

There are a few games that are better on the Wii U than on other platforms such as Yoshi's Woolly World, ZombiU, NES Remix, Rayman Legends and Wonderful 101.

I DO NOT recommend majority of the Virtual Console, the emulation for the most part is very poor, specifically the contrast which appears to be very dark for most supported systems. GBA and Turbogfx are the exception and highly recommended. For other consoles, you are better playing on Nintendo Switch Online, micro consoles or as a last or only resort, emulating on your PC or modded systems.

Re: Miyamoto Wasn't A Fan Of The Art Style In Zelda: Wind Waker When He First Saw It

I also cringed at Wind Waker when I first saw the trailers, but then I played at a friend's house and loved it. I looked in every store to buy my own copy, Walmart, Electronics Boutique (before merging with GameStop), and some video store I don't remember the name of. I ended up buying Viewiful Joe from the video store instead because I could not find Wind Waker anywhere that day. My friend let me borrow Wind Waker but decided he didn't want his game when I tried to give it back. I still have his game to this very day.

Re: Three Sega Genesis / Mega Drive Games Have Been Added To Switch Online's Expansion Pack

HistoricKombat

@CreatiScope

I didn't know that...perhaps I forgotten they released those. I have the Contra and Castlevania Collection as well as everything else they released on other platforms including the Genesis mini, so I am not exactly following the expansion pack unless they start releasing games not available elsewhere. I suppose there could a little hope for Rocket Knight but I am not raising my hopes up.

@Specter_of-the_OLED

Rocket Knight never had a re-release, so it should be no surprise he won't get one on the Switch. The most he got was a mediocre sequel in 2010. Konami is more interested in milking more popular franchises like Castlevania and Contra...oh, and Ninja Turtles. If Konami re-releases Rocket Knight games on modern hardware, I'd be shocked they would do such a thing.

Re: Vicarious Visions Is Seemingly No More After It Merges With Blizzard Entertainment

@Scrubicius Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time is a good port on the Switch considering the hardware limitation. The framerate is capped at 30 but is often stable. The game unfortunately is limited to display at 720p when docked. I would only recommend the port if you want your Crash 4 on the go unless the Switch version is your only option....actually, I would recommend it over the always online version on Battle.net.

Re: Poll: Which Sega Genesis / Mega Drive Games Should You Play First Via Nintendo Switch Online?

HistoricKombat

None. I have the Genesis / Mega Drive Collection, Castlevania & Contra Collections and the SEGA Genesis Mini. All the games offered are included at least on one of these collections. Nintendo is just wasting money adding these Genesis games to the online service. Customers such as myself want games we cannot get anywhere else. Offer Genesis titles that are not already on the Switch. Where is Rocket Knight Adventures?

Re: JUMANJI: The Curse Returns, Based On The Original Movie, Is Heading To Switch

HistoricKombat

Give the license to right developer & publisher, Jumanji has the potential to be a good game. It could be solid open-world adventure game akin to Rise of the Tomb Raider, or a more linear experience like Uncharted. Not every licensed game has to be some poorly developed multiplayer game...in fact, most of the better games are not which includes Batman, Spider-Man, Riddick, Ghostbusters: The Vide Game, Alien: Isolation and the list goes on. Walking Dead had two multiplayer titles that flopped with one cancelled for consoles while the Telltale game still continues to sell...I would take Telltale's Jumanji over what was already released despite not exactly I would want from a Jumanji game. Jumanji can be done right if publishers quit following multiplayer trends. Just make a solid action-adventure game based on recent films...they could make even a sequel or prequel game as oppose following the films directly much like Ghostbusters did.

Re: Random: Sakurai Terminator Reference Sparks DOOM, Fortnite And Among Us Smash Bros. Speculation

HistoricKombat

Why does Twitter always think every post is a tease for something? Sakurai was just merely having fun with his debug version of Smash Bro. Ultimate. and decided to share on Twitter. If social media was never a thing, this pic referencing Terminator would not be shared outside Sakurai's home & office except for maybe to close friends of his. His fans should be grateful he shares his pics, but instead they nitpick every detail in hope he his teasing something. No, Terminator is probably not coming to Smash nor is Doom guy. This pic is only referencing that Sakurai is a fan of the film Terminator and nothing more.

Re: Review: Destroy All Humans! - Ray Guns And Probes Abound In This Silly, Simplistic Remake

@SolBlazer

While I get your point but I feel you should not bother with Destroy All Humans! on Switch. Don't support companies who are willing to put out a shoddy port job for a quick cash grab. While the Switch has limited capabilities compared to other platforms but with excellent ports of Doom Eternal and Crash Bandicoot 4 with barely any compromises, Destroy All Humans! is an obvious poor port. Don't support really bad ports just those are your only options, you better off just skipping Destroy All Humans! entirely if you don't want another console.
