@SpaceboyScreams
Nintendo is going after the leaker because the leaker posted copyrighted images of an artbook (that comes as part of the expensive Collector's edition) all over the internet 3 months before the release of the game, not because they think Tears of the Kingdom sucks and are trying to protect the image of a secretly bad game.
The box office numbers for this film are absolutely nuts. It could take the crown as the biggest 5-day opening ever for an animated movie in the US with the way things are playing out.
No doubt more films are being greenlit as we speak.
@Yosher
Nobody at Creatures, GameFreak, The Pokemon Company, or Nintendo will be losing their jobs because of Pokemon Scarlet/Violet. Heck, I'd expect promotions given how wildly successful the game was.
This statement does somewhat strengthen the rumor from last year that Nintendo will start reducing their mobile gaming support. No more upcoming mobile games starring the company mascot stands in stark contrast against Nintendo's initial mobile gaming ambitions.
@Zyph This joint Nintendo Systems company never had anything to so with mobile games, the only reason why anyone thought it had anything to do with mobile gaming is because they saw the word "mobile firm" in the title of the article.
@Cashews I am no fortune teller but if I had to guess, this game is going to sell like 10 million copies in its first week or two. Pre-order momentum has but nothing short of insane.
@PinderSchloss
I think Aonuma is trying to show that fusing can fortify weapon durability.
In the gameplay demo, Link took a nearly broken tree branch and fused it with a boulder. That tree brand/boulder club was not only way stronger than the standard tree branch but was also no longer nearly broken, even after Link used it to kill 2 Constructs.
Shrines seem to be back in some form since the shrine icons show up on the minimap. Interestingly enough, caves also show up as icons on the minimap, separate from shrines, so they definitely seem a lot more substantial than just being holes in some walls.
@Diowine
The sky islands are nothing like shrines. They are part of the overworld map.
This may be a tiny spoiler, but... I don't think Nintendo has revealed a single thing in the leaked artbook that hadn't already been revealed before. Pretty exciting stuff.
No shrine/dungeon gameplay but at least we finally got to see the some of the new abilities in the game.
Fuse in particular looks absolutely nuts. I initially thought you could only attach some monster parts to a sword or axe but the system presented here looks way, way, way more in-depth that, almost as if anything that isn't too big and bolted to the ground can be fused.
@Otoemetry
The only time in recent memory where Nintendo surprise-delayed a game just weeks before launch is Advanced Wars Reboot Camp, and that's entirely because of the Ukraine War.
Why would anyone who isn't already a die-hard Melee fan buy Melee HD over Ultimate?
For a multiplayer franchise like Smash where each game is an iterative sequel to its predecessor, remastering the older titles doesn't make all that much sense.
Very hyped buy I'd like to see actual uninterrupted gameplay footage of the game to be fully overloaded with excitment, particularly in the sky islands/underground and the shrines/dungeons.
@Jalex__64 Unless I am missing something, there is no leaked info about T239's performance, let alone it being 4TFLOP.
Let's not set super high expectations that may very likely not be met lol. Even the SteamDeck, as large and bulky as it is, doesn't have 4TFLOP of GPU compute performance.
The old Pokémon titles have sat atop the 3DS eShop for the last 5+ years. I'm actually a bit surprised the Capcom games on fire sale weren't able to top Pokémon - goes to show how strong the brand is.
@Bigmanfan I don't know if you have ever looked at any sales charts but Minecraft is the best-selling non-Nintendo game on Switch by a huge margin. Even compared to 1st party Nintendo titles, it is a huge hit.
When The Pokemon Company sued PokeWorld, they made it clear that they had no interest in NFTs:
The counsel for TPCi also specifically pointed out that “TPCi, The Pokémon Company and Nintendo had made a deliberate decision not to launch any Pokémon NFTs”.
If this new job listing is indicative of NFTs being integrated into Pokémon in the future, then it would seem like that decision was made in the last ~3 months.
I can somewhat handle playing a Pokémon game that runs poorly, but NFT integration is a sure way to get me to never touch a Pokémon game ever again. I'd say the same for just about any other game franchise too.
I don't know why anyone would expect meaningfully bigger numbers for Metroid Prime Remastered - it's a month-late supply-constrained retail launch of a remaster of a game that never sold much to begin with (Metroid Prime on GCN sold <90,000 copies lifetime in Japan).
@Joeynator3000 If the Activision Blizzard acquisition goes through then Microsoft will be contractually obligated to develop COD for Nintendo platforms. Whether that means the current Switch or its successor (or both) is still up in the air, but it seems as of right now Microsoft is confident they can get COD running on the current Switch.
Despite being delayed by one month after the initial digital launch, Metroid Prime Remastered had the 2nd biggest retail launch of 2023 in the UK, only behind Hogwarts Legacy. This means it beat out Dead Space Remake, Fire Emblem Engage, Forspoken, Wild Hearts, Octopath II, Return to Dreamland Deluxe, Wo Long, etc.
@JohnnyC I'm not saying porting the recent Call of Duty titles to Switch will be easy or even technically possible - I'm just saying file size is not be quite as big of an issue as it once was. As an example, Warzone 2's file size on Steam/BattleNet comes in at under 40GB.
For the record, I personally believe that this Microsoft deal to publish Call of Duty titles on Nintendo hardware (if they acquire Activision Blizzard) will mostly involve the Switch's successor rather than the current Switch.
Miyamoto hasn't had a major leadership role in Nintendo since 2015 when Nintendo reorganized following Satoru Iwata's death. This reorganization combined Nintendo EAD and SPD into Nintendo EPD - Miyamoto (who led Nintendo EAD) became an adviser under the "Creative Fellow" moniker while Shinya Takahashi (who led Nintendo SPD) became the leader of the newly-formed Nintendo EPD.
There is a reason why Takahashi is the one who hosts most if not all of the general Nintendo Directs while Miyamoto only hosts the...check notes... Mario Movie Directs as of late. Miyamoto leaving Nintendo would, at most, impact Nintendo's future movie plans - their vidoe game software development is led by someone else entirely.
The only thing that can and will change Nintendo is the success (or lack thereof) of their current lineup of products. One executive retiring, leaving, or passing away (i.e. Iwata) won't do much for such a big company.
@UltimateOtaku91
The Tweet mentions bringing Call of Duty to Nintendo platforms on the same day as Xbox, with feature and content parity. This is almost certainly referring to mainline Call of Duty entries and Warzone, not mobile spin-offs (which aren't on Xbox).
Yeah, either the leaker got really, really, really, really lucky in guessing the exact appearance of those symbols, or this leaked OLED model is indeed real.

Re: Soapbox: Nobody Does 'More Of The Same' Better Than Nintendo

I dont think $70 game price is an issue at all.
Breath of the Wild was already more expensive than other Switch games in Europe/UK/Japan and that didn't hurt its sales one bit in those regions.

Re: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Apparently Has The Biggest File Size Of Any First-Party Switch Release

Tears of the Kingdom will be a ~20GB game when all said and done.
Re: New Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Trailer Shows A Flying Vehicle And Fresh Details
Surprised that the leaked Zelda OLED model wasn't shown off. I guess Nintendo will announce it closer to launch (like early April).
Hopefully that announcement is paired with some kind of Zelda Direct because there are still some big questions about the structure of this game.
