I've read that Switch 2 is using two different LCD manufacturers, I wonder if they've run tests on both variants. I've been playing mine in handheld and on an OLED TV. Sure the color and contrast on the TV are better than the LCD screen but that's really the only difference I’m seeing.

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. As the “value” of these pieces of cardboard goes up so will the number of scammers. Almost feel sorry for the guy but if you got 3 million to lose on Pokémon cards then you surely don’t need my sympathy. Be smarter next time.

Looking forward to this for the improved graphics AND the motionless controls. I personally have always disliked motion controls. Playing this game again WITHOUT them will be a treat.

@Highlar the street date was broken by retailers and people who purchased the game are streaming it. You act as though Nintendo HQ was hacked and the game source leaked online...

@Kriven my thoughts exactly. I wouldn’t mind a switch that had a 1080p display that would run 1080p60 docked or not. Shouldn’t be hard at this point. Focus on battery life and call it a day. And honestly it could be a little thicker to support the extra guts and I’d wouldn’t mind at all.

@blockfight poor experience is one factor. Not owning a copy being another. Service goes down etc... not playing. It’s anti-consumer. You have virtually no rights, just the ones they give you. My issue is folks start supporting this and it will be the only way before you know it. End of gaming as we know it.

That’s perfectly fair. Just too many games to bother with poor experiences, again my opinion. If I wanted to play the game badly enough, I find another way. I have enough games on backlog already to likely last beyond death.

@blockfight honestly, yes. Personally I’d rather not have the experience. I am entitled to my opinion, even if it’s the only thing. Cloud gaming sucks for the gamer. Hard pass for me.

If gaming really goes the way of the cloud I’m done. I’m just now embracing digital but that’s where it ends. This is all about profit and control. Nothing benefits the customer.

I really love Nintendo even more for this. Their service is worth it just for the games alone.

Just looking forward to playing. Had this one on my Gameboy, I remember playing back in 97’.

Shouldn’t need an account to play at 25 year old game that we pay for. They take the service down and the game becomes wasted storage space. I don’t like the road we’re headed down.

Nintendo really is a special company. Reading this makes me sad and happy at the same time.

I wonder if you will be able to pair other controllers like the pro to the switch lite. It wouldn’t be “Junked” if that’s the case. Still not a good situation, but not a total loss.

I love how Nintendo releases a product then removes features that didn’t stick in the “lite” version. Nothing like releasing a portable version of your already portable game system and “focusing” on portability. Really they are focusing on profits and it’s cheaper to make the system in one piece and one shell instead of all the removable stuff. At least it’s a little cheaper since the 90$ dock isn’t included and the Bluetooth controllers are a thing of the past as well. I’m just looking forward to when the system can run all of its games at 1080p on a portable 1080p screen. Maybe the extra lite version will have that. 1080p is so last decade. It’s not too much to ask.

@ilikeike did you read the article? It’s a 2p stick with games built and you plug it into your tv. Apparently Capcom is following the lead of the Chinese and releasing their own fight stick game combo, no console required.

Theses days Devs only give us half the game at release. Now they only give you half the cartridge as well. The other half comes in 4-6 weeks when you purchase the season pass.

Well playing games in the 8 and 16 bit era would have been much more boring without first party games from Nintendo and Sega. I’m doubting we’ll see anything from them.

Geez what a blast from the past just seeing that. I remember playing Tetris like that vs my neighborhood friends when I was in high school. I wish I still had all that stuff.

@sleepinglion Not everything about the internet is great. Unfortunately I think the days of a complete game on a cart are long gone. Nintendo doesn’t even try to ship complete games anymore. It’s a shame.

I personally think that Nintendo’s online service in their current offering will continue on past the switch, along with all the retro goodies. They are just getting started making many of their retro games available on their online service. No point in getting people to keep repurchasing the games over and over each new generation, they just make them part of their subscription service, endless revenue.

@citizen_zane exactly! Going to the internet for the solution is the last resort for me. I can literally see myself starting over or something because I feel like I missed something and got stuck, only to find out that the info I need isn’t actually available any other way.

Can’t wait for this! I remember playing this and I don’t recall if I finished the game back then. Will be a great addition to Switch!

@NintendoFan4Lyf I downloaded a copy for Xbox One X since it’s the more powerful console and I share my digital purchases with my son so any game I buy digital it’s like getting 2 for 1. I want to play through 1&2 before I dig into 3, it’s been a while.

@OorWullie that was my exact thought as well. I see this game coming at the end of the switch lifespan, maybe even being a launch title for the next console.

@Kalmaro it’s all about clicks, they will put anything in an article if they think it will get you to click it.

Metroid Prime 4 will be the next Zelda, they announce it for system A bit end up releasing as a launch title for the next system.

I think it would be smart to release closer to 4, but not too close that one doesn’t have time to play them, maybe 6 months prior. Very excited for all this.

I'm cool with this, disappointed but I know the end result will be better. Nintendo knows that we expect nothing but excellence when it comes to this franchise and they plan to deliver.

@sleepinglion through the eyes of someone that has already purchased and played it once I get you.. millions have not. Keep in mind Nintendo is in business to make money. They clearly know what the hell they are doing as they are making bank. If you don’t like it vote with your wallet.

@sleepinglion well the game is the same price as it was at launch and they added a 20$ DLC to the mix. It’s a port not a remaster, not sure how that’s lazy.

@sleepinglion haters gonna hate. There is a large audience for this game that has never played it. It’s a great game even if it was a launch title for a failed system. Too many people on here hating on Nintendo for offering their game to the new audience for retail price. I’m not sure if it’s the feeling of entitlement that has all you previous players scoffing at the price but for anyone that hasn’t played it’s a worthy purchase. Also explain how it’s a lazy port? For me that would be a port that didn’t run as good on the new system as the one it was ported from. I’ve played it on the Switch already and can confirm it is every bit as good as the Wii U version. Haters gonna hate.

@JamesR it’s ok I spent a boat load on the actual cartridges back in the 80s and 90s on the systems. Getting access to all these games for mere pennies is like a dream come true. I just laugh when people scoff at the 20$ subscription, I spent more than that on a single game. I guess everyone expects things should be free now days.

@Slim1999 Unless it gets a Nintendo Selects. If Nintendo does this with Switch games then I’d expect to see it for 20$ in a couple years. I’ve already played it on Wii U and can at any time I wish so waiting for that won’t be tough.

@humbucker as someone who has played through both Id get Oddessy now and save MARIO U for a sale. They are both very solid games but Oddessy was built for Switch.

I think even Nintendo knows it’s a hard sell to put this game out for 60$. Sure there are plenty Switch owners that haven’t play but there are also plenty that have. I’d like to have it on my Switch but I’ve already paid 60$ for it once.

@Velocirapstar kinda feel for you if you don’t have a copy of SMB on something by now. If you’re just salty because you can’t buy it on Switch too well blame Nintendo but it’s certainly been out on various devices over and over again.

@shani well internet in China isn’t like the rest of the world. They are watched and censored everywhere. This is probably the only legit way they could get it, even if it’s not actually legit.

@gokev13 Yea I really enjoyed fighting games in that era as well. Played all the same ones but kinda lost interest in the mid to late 90s. I guess that was around the same time I had switched solely to PC gaming for a while.

Unless there is some major promotion, why preorder anything digital? I used to preorder physical copies of games back in the day before digital and internet existed, and game stores got limited copies of games. Now there is basically no point with exception of limited edition SKUs. People should stop preordering games. Publishers might be forced to release games with more polish if folks would wait until after the game is out to part with their cash.
