Re: Talking Point: What Game Do You Wish You Could Forget?

SpoonySpoons

Chrono Trigger

Steins; Gate

Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate

Nier: Automata

FF14: ShadowBringers(specifically the post patch content)

There’s also some multiplayer games I’d love to relive the times I played through them with buddies. For Honor, DragonBall FighterZ, Smash 4 and Ultimate, Battlefield 4.

Re: Square Enix To Be "Aggressive In Applying" AI Going Forwards

SpoonySpoons

Not surprised, as long as its not used in any creative capacity and can be easily moderated, it’ll be fine. Many fields, including Medical Administration, Billing, and Coding, have already conducted their own studies and begun embracing the AI future. I think there’s going to be a rough 5 year period where quality of AI work is sketchy, but that 5 years is going to be crucial for shaping the path going forward.

Re: Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince Update Announced For Switch

Looking forward to what changes they bring. Performance improvements aside, I think the UI could use some tweaking. Less delay between battle transitions, more consistent button parity to open certain menus(I think Talent points have a different method to open for each menu), and maybe more search options for the reverse search. I also think drop rates for eggs should be improved - theres just not nearly enough content to justify the drop rates for certain high ranked monsters.

Re: Round Up: The First Impressions Of Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince Are In

Excited to have my copy come in. Performance issues are concerning, but can’t be much worse than how my copy of DQ9 is running(consistent 10-15 fps lol)

Interestingly, a lot of the criticism I’ve noticed is from folks who haven’t really dived into this type of Monster raising before. Much like the Digimon games, there’s less focus on a challenge or combat, and more just jacking up stats and filling out the bestiary. The long and short of it is, its a grindy game and definitely a very niche one. You’re not getting the quality combat you’ll get in something like SMT or Pokemon. Regardless, as someone who loves Dragon Quest and the monster raising in these games, I think I’ll have a great time.

Re: Nintendo Reminds Fans Zelda Is Up For Nomination At This Year's Game Awards

Honestly don’t really think it deserves it.

Is it a good game? Yes. Maybe even great. Not to beat a long dead horse, but it really is just a $70 expansion to BotW. The map is more or less copy and paste with a few doodads here and there. The underground and sky islands are neat in concept, but end up falling flat because its just the same environments copy and pasted. The flaws of the core gameplay still exist, with entire features replaced with less intuitive ones. It feels strange to say given the long wait, but I think the game is unfinished and didn’t quite reach the ambition of its predecessor.

Re: Soapbox: Pokémon X & Y - The Series' Greatest Paradoxes

SpoonySpoons

Gen 6 really was the turning point for quality in these games. I remember loving X/Y and ORAS, but even then the glaring cut content and step down in quality for the main campaign was obvious. Back then I had assumed that they were on a trial run and could only improve(and don’t get me wrong, ORAS was a huge improvement), but SuMo was when I threw in the towel. SuMo wasn’t necessarily bad, but I could see the direction the series was moving in, and was ultimately let down.
