Re: Atari 50: Expanded Edition Adds 2 New Timelines And 39 New Games

SpiderPirate4

Oooo! There's plenty Intellivision games I would love to play again... Utopia being high on that list.

There's a couple 5200 games I'd love to see added... Space Dungeon being one.

I still wish they could get River Raid rights for these, it's always the one title missing and a personal fave. I'd like Pitfall 2 as well.

I guess I just have a desire for all the games!

Re: Fired Nintendo Worker Comes Forward With An Account Of Their Dismissal

SpiderPirate4

This isn't really an article... it's a speculation blog post at best. A contract worker also isn't fired, their contract is ended... the whole reason corporations use them is so they don't have to deal with actual terminations/benefits costs/etc. They aren't an employee of the company they are contracted with, they are an employee of the staffing firm.

And with this, your contract can end for pretty much any reason they want with no notice.

This post doesn't mention if the tester in question was the one who posed the question to Bowser, giving themselves the direct scrutiny.

But they definitely posted a criticizing comment on social media about a game in development. Even if it was vague, it implied the developers didn't know what they were doing. That's a no no in that position and they were let go.

@khululy

You guys". You mean you? You're the one upset that a fictional video game character, with a generic white guy look in sunglasses (there's nothing iconic about his look AT ALL) is not white in a series adaptation that's changing things up. Did you cry when Heimdall wasn't white in Thor? Despite Idris Elba absolutely killing it in the role?

No, a show shouldn't be completely white, because of the era it was created avoided any kind of diversity and that's something to be rectified in an update. Anyone upset at that is either A) unaware of their implicit bias or B) blatantly racist. Pick one.

Your false equivalency was removing a character's diversity where their race was actually a factor for the character. With Wesker it ISN'T. Does that make sense to you? Or are you the one I should pity because you can't comprehend the difference?

Re: Feature: Resident Evil Netflix Review: Wesker Steals A Show That Lacks Bite

SpiderPirate4

You know that's a cop out excuse... and so does anyone else who reads it. "It has a certain brand attached to it"? Which means absolutely nothing. "I like the brand because it is of a certain quality".

So what does ANY of that have to do with the race of the characters for which you complained about? Absolutely nothing... which means you can't even come up with a good backpedal when you're called out. So yes... we see you.

This is what happens when you let a game critic review a show (double points when it's based on a game)... they're ultimately terrible at it and complaining about things that actually make the show better than adhering to the nonsensical story of the games that just does NOT translate to film.

Sometimes gamers are just the worst... and this review misfires and fails to connect.

This show is oddly enough, good. It has a lot of homages and references to the games in very clever ways (like the daughters solving puzzles left by their father, which actually make sense vs solving weird puzzles in the middle of a police station).
Overall, it's a more coherent story with some pretty gnarly monsters and a cool take on the setting.

Re: Review: The Alliance Alive (3DS)

@Kalmaro I'm assuming you're either young, or don't travel a lot. I can think of many reasons where I'd bring it instead (and have), or where I'd actually take both (as they take up very little room).

Re: Review: The Alliance Alive (3DS)

SpiderPirate4

@Kalmaro You don't have to take two with you EVERYWHERE haha.. sometimes just take the other (like I refuse to take my Switch to more bustly areas... or when I know I'll only get brief gaming spurts).

Re: Review: Castle of Heart (Switch eShop)

SpiderPirate4

@Shiryu All of his movements feel a bit... slow. That might make for the floaty feel for some (and makes the combat tougher in return)... though I would think that would make the platforming easier than harder (counter to what this review states... it's like Princess Peach in Mario with her float, makes jumps easier).

Overall it looks like a decent Indie side scroller. Thanks for the video upload.

Re: Review: Castle of Heart (Switch eShop)

SpiderPirate4

@Shiryu Again... you're basing that off of a single person's review. You stated you have enjoyed it, but because of this review...

(Meanwhile, another review gave it an 7/10 and another an 8.5. So again, views are subjective... broaden your information pull and ultimately go off of your own views).

Re: Review: Bad Dudes (Switch eShop)

SpiderPirate4

A game that was the epitome of the 80's ridiculousness in storytelling and concept; ninja obsession, action hero(s) being better than an army, Leaders being kidnapped for no discernable reason (the alternative is to kidnap the leader's daughter/lover) etc... it's a shame about the features though.

There was nothing like being rewarded for saving the President of the U.S. with... burgers.

"There’s the occasional moment where heads and limbs move as if they are attached by brass fasteners"

We call that Paper Doll animation... often used in mobile games, sadly being used in non-mobile games these days too (it's quick, simple, and cheap to do).
It was literally my main concern when looking at images for this game.
