Re: The Original Fire Emblem Is Coming To The West For The First Time Ever On Switch

@Gasarakii Where did you pre-order from? I've searched Amazon, EB Games, and Best Buy. No listings. I'm tired of constantly missing out on these things. Already missed out on the SNES Mini, Mario Kart Home, and the 30th Anniversary Game&Watch.
Nintendo's limited availability is just frustrating me. Plenty of things that I'd gladly pick up at retail price, but I refuse to pay scalper prices.

Re: You Cannot Have A Complete National Pokédex In Pokémon Sword And Shield

This is such a let down. I’ve been bummed about the evident lack of Mega Evolutions and regional variants. My hopes for over-world Pokémon encounters and free camera control is apparently locked to a single area. And now I can’t even port over the Pokémon I’ve been collecting for nearly fifteen years?? My hype for these games has deflated.
And they really need to reveal more information about Pokémon Home. Are we expected to now pay for two subscriptions to maintain Bank and Home? Are they really going to try to charge us twice and then deny us for porting our Pokémon to the new games? At this point, I wouldn’t put it past Game Freak.

@lanceorr Confusing criticism with ungratefulness does nothing to hold Game Freak to a higher quality standard. You expect us to just suck up whatever Game Freak throws at us? They have one of the most profitable game franchises in history and they frequently deliver underdeveloped games. I expect more from them, and I’m going to make damn sure they know it.

@Gio32k I'm aware of the history of 3D. And I don't think dismissing 3D as a gimmick is fair. That word gets thrown around too much these days. It's gotten to the point that any innovation beyond traditional gaming layouts are labeled as gimmicks That kind of attitude towards innovation doesn't encourage new ideas.
I really like the stereoscopic 3D and I play every 3DS game with the slider pushed to max. I find it really helps me feel immersed in the game world.
So yeah, I'm sad to see this feature dropped.

Re: Feature: Why We're Still Playing... Pokémon Gold / Silver / Crystal

Gen 2 has always been by favourite Gen, despite the third generation holding a special place in my heart.
It was the only Generation that seemed to implement the day and night cycle properly. The time and date truly felt like it affected which Pokémon came out and the events that happened.
Unfortunately that very same clock feature is why my cartidge's internal battery is dead...

Re: Feature: Watch The Pokémon US National Championships - Live!

I really think that between matches they could show trailers for upcoming Pokémon games or television episodes, conduct more interviews, or broadcast a Pokémon short. Maybe they could even reserve that time to tease unannounced games. They could create some real buzz around this event by making it more than just the Championships.
Just a thought.

Re: Talking Point: What We Want To See From Nintendo's Next Handheld

It drives me crazy that people still insist on calling 3D a gimmick. I prefer movies in 3D and I always leave my 3D on when playing my 3DS. I find it makes my experiences far more immersive and interesting. I think SM3DL and A Link Between Worlds proved that 3D can be an asset. And I hosetly believe Pokėmon X&Y would have benefited greatly from a full integration of 3D. Of course 3D can be used in gimmicky ways, but so can touch controls and dual screens.

As a child I dreamt of this kind of technology and it's finally here. Don't take that away from me.

Re: Pokémon Bank Pricing Revealed For Australia And New Zealand

SNESuperior

@audiobrainiac My point exactly. XBox was one of the "pay for on-line" pioneers. Now it's considered "normal" to pay for that stuff. At the electronics store I used to work at I'd regularly see suckers come in and purchase Microsoft points for $50 or more just so they could use the bloody on-line features. That's a slippery slope that's already happened. I'm warning about the one that's going to happen with Nintendo.

Re: Pokémon Bank Pricing Revealed For Australia And New Zealand

@BenAV I know there's the first free month. That's cool, and I'll be making use of that. But what happens when I decide I want to replay some of the older games later on and port my new 'mons over. Suddenly I'm required to pay a fee for a simple transfer? I've also got other things I wanted to do in Black&White with my prime team at my leisure. Now I've got to do all that before Jan. 31 to avoid paying. Yeah, it doesn't cost much but it's the principle. With this change I have to play my games on Game Freak's terms and not my own, like it used to be.

Re: Pokémon Bank Pricing Revealed For Australia And New Zealand

SNESuperior

I don't care how small the fee is, it's unreasonable to charge players for features that were free with every other game. If you want the extra storage space that's cool, but I shouldn't be charged just to port my Pokémon over. Still so disapointed with Game Freak. I hope someone can figure out a hack that'd allow us to port Pokémon for free, y'know, like it should be in the first place.

Re: Don't Expect To See A Mainline Pokémon Game On Wii U Or Your Smartphone

SNESuperior

So nice to see an appropriate approach to microtransactions, DLC, and mobile phone games.
Personally, I get a little queezy just thing about a Pokémon game on a phone. Mobile games consitenty lack the depth and variety of their console counterparts. A Pokémon game on a phone would be a mockery in my opinion. Besides, Pokémon and Nintendo go hand-in-hand.
I appreciate their choice to protect their younger audience from microtransactions, but shouldn't ahem everyone be exempt from such nonsense? I just think that's a strange reason to avoid microstransactions. Just cause I'm older doesn't mean I am any more okay with being nickeled and dimed on a game I already paid for. Annoyances aside, microtranactions fly in the face of everything video games are meant to be. A game that relies on microtransactions creates a world where a player can reach the top of the leaderboards based on the depth of their pockets rather than their depth of their knowledge or skill. Either way, microtransactions have been ruled out in Pokémon, and rightly so. I am happy with this.
Finally, DLC can be a blessing or a curse depending on how it is handled. If it provideds additional content that is over and above the original material then I'm all for it. However, if the greedy game developers hold half the game that you already paid for as ransom, then that's downright criminal. All in all, I'm not upset in the least to hear there will be no DLC for Pokémon.
I am sad to hear there are no plans for a Wii U Pokémon title though.
Sorry for such a long comment.

Re: Pokémon Bank And Poké Transporter Will Hit The North American eShop in December

SNESuperior

I seems to me that the vast majority of people are only going to use PokéBank to transfer their older generation Pokémon. I can't recall a single moment in the last fifteen years of playing Pokémon where I said to myself "Gee, I really wish I could store 3000 Pokémon in one place". I don't think I've ever filled more than three boxes in a game. So I have no need for the PokéBank, though I'm sure it'll be great for those that'll use it. My issue is that they've tied the Gen Transfer feature to the Bank system. I flat out refuse to pay money, no matter how small the amount, to use a feature that has been free since Gen 2. Of course, transfering my old team over within the free thirty day trial is easy, but what if I want to transfer some more Pokémon a year or so later? (Yes, I do replay the old games and port my Pokémon forward). If Game Freak won't provide an alternative transfer system that'd use the SD card instead of CloudStorage, I'm hoping a techsavy fan can. Anyone know if that'd be possible?

Re: First Impressions: Pokémon X & Y

I'm still completely crushed that the overworld isn't in 3D. Actually, I'm shocked at myself by how much that has affected my enthusiasm for this game. The news is still fresh though, gimme another couple days to process it. @MegaWatts Was the 2D to 3D switch in-game jarring?

But they better fix the lack of 3D for the inevitable "upgrade" installment.

Re: Junichi Masuda Confirms That the Pokémon X & Y Overworld is 2D Only

SNESuperior

I feel so utterly cheated by this news. That's like buying a new car and then learning that the stereo will only work half the time.
The 3D slider is there for a reason. If someone does't want 3D they'll fix that themselves. Plus, couldn't they've maybe mentioned this six months ago instead of dropping this bomb a few weeks before the games launch? I play with my 3D on all the time and I love it. In fact, I find the graphics look better with the 3D on. The overworld screenshots I've seen so far would have looked SO good in 3D and I was really looking forward to seeing them that way.
So what's this bull they're trying to pull with "keeping the beauty"? They're dealing with cell-shaded cartoon art, not a Monet! Plenty of games have gorgeous graphics and still maintain the 3D effect. I don't buy it, not for one bit. Just give us the 3D game we should be getting.
This lack of overworld 3D and the fact that I'll have to pay to transfer over my bloody Pokémon from Black&White has severly cut my hype for these new games. Don't get me wrong, I love Pokémon and I'm still buying the games but this sucks...hard.
