@Paulo If this is the world view you are choosing to see things through then that's how you'll see it I guess but in reality this is nothing out of the ordinary. More powerful system with some gimmicks thrown in like dual mouse controlls. Very normal to be honest, especially for their handhelds, but if that's how you feel then that's how you feel.
@Paulo SNES, Gamecube, GBA, 3DS. Having a successor system that doesn't change much from the previous system besides being more powerful is the most normal Nintendo thing to do if you pay attention the the company history.
@shgamer Previously you had a primary system and a secondary system and now whatever system you have the virtual game card loaded into acts as the primary system for that game and allows offline play. you can still launch the game on other systems without having the virtual game card loaded by just doing a quick online check when launching the game. You need to turn online licenese on in the user settings first though.
@Banjo- Turn online license on and it works with both virtual game cards and the old system of doing a quick online check when on a secondary system. Only difference now is that there is no one primary system, instead whatever system a virtual game card is currently loaded in to acts as the primary system for that game.
@Sonicka I think I had a hard to understanding what you were saying at first because that sounds insane that that was ever a thing. Shame that the probably unintentional feature is gone.
@Sonicka I don't know what you are talking about then. It works exactly as it did before, it just treats the system that has the virtual game card in it at the moment as the primary system system for that game and otherwise it functions exactly as before.
@Sonicka I just tried launching the game on the system with the game card in while on airplane mode and then on my other system I launched the game, it did the internet chech, and then I was playing the game on both systems at once. Still works like that just fine as long as you change the setting to on.
@SillyG I think if it's pitched as a family activity with a game like Mario Kart expecially then you're probably underestimating what families are willing to spend. Lots of family activities are super expensive.
@PharoneTheGnome There was a decent few units at each physical GameStop location and everyone who waited a few hours before opening seemed to get one. Many people reported showing up hours after Gamestop opened and that location still having some.
@AussieMcBucket Well Nintendo is saying you may not get it day one through them and Walmart is promising day one delivery by 9am so I would say keep your walmart order
@Scarmucci I think Best Buy's anti fruad system shadow blocks you from getting through the queue system if you're lining up for multiple different bundles at once.
@MegaVel91 If you live in Japan and you want a Switch 2 that can play games in languages other than Japanese then you have to get it on the My Nintendo store and that multi language version is more expensive than the regular retail units. This isn't a matter of concern if you're buying your Switch 2 outside of Japan though.
@timp29 The Switch 2 hardware devs said they designed the mouse mode to work on your pants when at the couch so that you won't need furniture to use it. We'll have to see how that works out but it's something they though of at the very least
My top 2 favorite games last year are FFVII Rebirth and Emio so I'm glad to see them getting Some recognition! Famicom Detective Club games are peak visual novel to me.
Only people who saw the leaks are people who are hardcore into the online gaming sphere, so the leaks will have had zero impact on their decision to purchuse or not. To the vast vast majority of Switch owners, this was a surprise still.
@Skunkfish I get what you're saying but we're not getting more than one big 1st party Nintendo game at launch. Those would be spaced out through the year.
@contractcooker Completly agree. Switch Lite would be my main Switch if it could dock. Love the formfactor for handheld play but removing the namesake of the Switch is a big deal breaker.
@Jack_Goetz Switch Lite can't be docked though. Who knows if that will also be the case for a hypothetical Switch 2 Lite but assuming it will, that might not suit you so well if you mostly play docked.
Having just watched the trailer, this all seems blown way out of proportion. Nothing in that is particularly spoilery, especially considering that it would all be out of context for anyone who hasn't played Emio yet.
Everyone acting like things leaking about the system is going to hurt it are out of their minds. The amount of people that are on the internet looking at leaked gaming info is such an extreme minority of people who already had their mind made up about buying it or not. Same thing happens with the big name phone brands and yet the vast majority of people find out about it only when it's officially announced and it has no impact on sales. Everyone needs to cool it imo
I almost aways play with split joy-con when playing docked and I never use the strap unless it's a very motion heavy game. I just find the joy-con more comfortable without the straps on.
@Baker1000 I mean, I get what you're saying but Nintendo was never going to reveal what the voltage is or what the motherboard looks like. The potential mouse functionality and the magnetic joy-con are the only things leaked so far that Nintendo would show off in a presentation/trailer.
@Late Just use the wrist strap. It covers the sync button and also has the benefit of adding a bit more to the controller to grip. The new Joy-Con will presumably have a new strap as well.
@johnedwin The raw power of Switch 2 was never going to be as much as PS5 and Series X. It may have newer tech in some regards that let's it get great results for the power that is in it but a handheld deveice is never going to match the current gen home consoles. That never should have been an expectation.
@Banjo- I mean, I know this ultimately doesn't matter but it seems pretty crazy to me just by proximity to categorize the gens that way. Wii U was just 1 year before the PS4/XBO and the Switch was 3 years before the PS5/Xbox Series. Switch 2 will most likely being launching closer to the PS6 then it will the PS5 and rumor indicate that Xbox is planning their next system even earlier this time. It seems pretty obvious which gens they would fall under, if the concept of consoles gens even matters anymore that is.
@Thomystic The remakes were made by Mages so I'd assume this new game is also being made by them. Sakamoto's producer/supervising team is probably the only internal development of this game happening at Nintendo.

Re: Nintendo Unveils Diddy Kong's Brand New Design
@YunoboCo They barely changed Diddy Kong but Donkey Kong just looks more like his original artwork.

@shgamer If you're playing those all on your account then there's no difference in how it worked before to access your games on multiple systems.

@Banjo- Just keep all of your virtual game cards loaded on one system then. Easy!
