Re: Watch: Modern Vintage Gamer Shares An In-Depth Look At The Pros And Cons Of Nintendo's N64 Emulation

Nin10dood

As a mad N64 collector I have no need for this service but I can understand the frustration of others.

I have access to all the PAL games released and there are some truly awesome games, shame half of them won't be available.

These are some of my cabinets

As you can tell, I love my 64.
Yes, I have played them all.

Re: Switch OLED Model Scores 2 Out Of 10 On Screen Durability Scratch Test

Nin10dood

@Curator
I bought a Switch on launch day.
I had 3 defects straight out of the box.
It had 3 cracks in the casing, faulty SD card reader and faulty joycons.
Not all of these defects are through careless behaviour.
Mine was brand new, never even used and it was damaged.
Sometimes some of us are just unlucky.
Not saying some people aren't careless with their consoles, just saying not all of us are.

Re: INDIE Live Expo Winter 2021 Will Show Off More Than 500 Games, Apparently

Nin10dood

Let's hope some of them are good.
Quality over quantity please.

The indie titles sure have been delivering though, some truly amazing games on the eshop, just wish we could rate the games to clear out most of the rubbish.
A user based rating might not be perfect but the cream always rises to the top and it would be nice to have that option.

Re: Wow, Nintendo Switch Was First Revealed Five Years Ago Today

Nin10dood

@BTB20
I had to send it into Nintendo themselves to repair it as the shop had no stock left, it was sold out so I would have to had waited even longer for a replacement.
Nintendo took 3 weeks and accused me of dropping it.
I had taken photos of all the faults (thankfully) as it was faulty straight out of the box.
When they sent it back the SD reader still didn't work so I had to send it back in for a further week and half
Not a great start to a new console with 2 kids who were more excited than I was.

Re: Wow, Nintendo Switch Was First Revealed Five Years Ago Today

Nin10dood

@sanderev
Yeah I understand that, but 3 in one console is a bit much.
Also, I have 2 kids that were also excited, try telling your kids for 3 weeks that their new console is a lemon.
Also, I was accused by Nintendo for dropping it, warranties might cover you for faults but being accused of something you didn't do sort of rubs you the wrong way.

Re: Wow, Nintendo Switch Was First Revealed Five Years Ago Today

Nin10dood

I remember being so excited, taking it home and unboxing it...........only to find cracks in my casing before I had even turned it on.
I was a bit annoyed but still pretty excited so I soldiered on and played Botw for a few weeks loving every minute.
I had bought a pro controller on launch as I am a home console player more so than a handheld gamer and decided I would try it in handheld, only to discover the left Joycon drifted badly, I was getting really annoyed by now and then I went out and bought a Nintendo recommended SD card to expand my memory for all the downloads I was planning on buying only to find the SD card reader didn't work either, anger was building quickly by now.
Then began the process of contacting Nintendo and having to send in my new console for them to have it for 2 and half weeks while I twiddled my thumbs.
To say excitement had died by then was an understatement.
That is the memory my new Switch has left with me
Glad others had better ones than mine

My worse ever console.

Re: This Metroid Dread Boss Fight Trick Shows The Devs Knew You'd Break The Game

Nin10dood

@Friendly
Yeah, I agree 100%
They don't blend well like they do in the Prime series.
I enjoy the adventure side of the Prime series, the scanning, finding info that way.
The Emmi's annoy me more than anything, I know a lot of people like their introduction into Metroid but I really don't.
Also, a lot of the abilities feel like they're not used very creatively, more just for opening doors.
Like one boss you get a new ability but it is used to get from one side to another and not actually on the boss itself, it feels like a wasted opportunity.
I'm trying to give an example without spoilers, haha.
I get what you mean about save rooms, chozo statues, they feel like they're plonked in a room or section for the sake of it rather than thoughtfully integrated into the area.

Re: This Metroid Dread Boss Fight Trick Shows The Devs Knew You'd Break The Game

Nin10dood

No, I won't be playing through a second time.
I haven't enjoyed it like most, it has been disappointing tbh.
I've waited too long and now I'm not enjoying my time with it.
Emmi's are annoying, they're not scary and they don't install dread.
Well I guess they do as I dread having to go into their zones but for different reasons.
I guess different tastes and all that.
I'm glad others get to enjoy a new Metroid and that it will create a new fanbase but this old fan will just have to wait for Prime 4, hopefully that is more enjoyable for me.

Re: Soapbox: Paper Mario: TTYD Is 17 Years Old Today, But It's Still A Masterpiece

Nin10dood

@ObeseChihuahua2
I did open it.
I meant I still have the original box it came in complete with all manuals, baggies etc.
It is like new, I also have a brand new one unopened as a spare.
I buy a second console at the end of their lifecycle on clearance for cheap as a spare in case.
I have done this since the GameCube.
I have a second Xenoblade Edition Wii U unopened, i keep as spares.
I will do the same for the Switch at the end of its lifecycle, usually when the successor is being released.

Re: Soapbox: Paper Mario: TTYD Is 17 Years Old Today, But It's Still A Masterpiece

Nin10dood

@nessisonett
Haha, yeah, I play mine too except I take extreme care with all my games.
I have alll my N64 games complete in box, all mint.
It helps that my parents told me to take care with all my toys as they will be worth a lot of money one day.
They used to hide the toys/games/ comics I lost interest in and store them away.
So glad I had parents who were reliving their childhood through me
😁

Re: Video: Digital Foundry Gives Its Assessment Of The Switch OLED Model

Nin10dood

The best display on a handheld.
But it's a home console right?, right!?!!
Now that you've looked after those handheld players, how about you throw us docked players a bone Nintendo.

The best display is on my large screen tv.
I'm old, my eyes are old, no matter how good the screen is it is too small.
HD means nothing when all you see is in SD.
😁

Re: Best Nintendo 64 Games

Nin10dood

I still own them all.
1080 is the best snowboarding game ever.
Should be higher.
Recently picked up a new manual for snowboard Kids 2, it is now mint and complete.
Such a great console.
Glad others will get to enjoy its games, albeit at a slow trickle.

Re: 'Pac-Man: Birth Of An Icon' Celebrates One Of Gaming's Most Timeless Characters

Nin10dood

I remember the Pac Man machines when they first came out.
The lines to play it were unbelievable, every kid couldn't wait to play it.
It was a great time in gaming history.
I love Pac Man so much I recently got the Arcade 1up 40th anniversary machine complete with Pac Man chair.
Now I don't have to worry about Pac Man eating up all my spare change like I did when I was a kid.

Re: The First Switch OLED Comparison Video Has Surfaced

Nin10dood

Meh.
I was sold a lemon at launch with multiple faults and if this already has dents in it then it looks like the same cheap build quality as the original.
Hard pass.
I call my launch Switch FrankenSwitch since it has more replacement parts than original parts.

Re: Switch's N64 Controller Is Hiding Some Extra Buttons

Nin10dood

I still have about 8 N64 controllers, 4 of which are plugged into my still used N64.
I have every game released on it but for some reason I still want me one of these Switch ones.
I have a red, green, blue, black, yellow and standard grey ones.
I still have a brand new black one unopened since the day I bought it as a back up and still haven't needed to open it.
The N64 controllers are easily fixed and I have hardly need to at all and I have played lots of games on it, 243+ to be precise.
I just bought myself a new N64 console too.
A CIB like new Swiss variant which had less than 5000 released.
Love my N64's.
