Re: Random: Ever Wondered What's Inside A SNES Controller? Here's A Look

NESguy94

Sadly it isn’t uncommon to see to crud like that in a controller. I’ve got to be getting close to 1000 controllers that I’ve worked on now.
What’s fun is when you get some filthy smoker’s controller. You have to deal with all of the dirt and debris, plus the added Smokey smoke that can’t be removed from the rubber membranes. It also feels Grimes to the touch. In general if you smoked around it I can assume you didn’t take care of it.

Re: RiME Devs Explain The Difficulty Of Porting The Game To Switch

NESguy94

@Biff_ARMStrong
That’s not a valid argument. I grew up playing those as well. Most NES games ran at a smooth frame rate around 30 (Edited) FPS which was fine for the time so long as there wasn’t input lag. Doom on the Saturn has a low frame rate (~10fps) but it was consistent for the most part. We’re talking about a game that drops from 30 FPS to 1-2 FPS in a heartbeat. It’s jarrong and looks like crap.
This is 2017, not 1994. 30fps shouldn’t be an issue if the game is optimized.

That’s fair, however their port of Twilight Princess felt truly lazy. Many textures were left low-res and everything pointy and angular meaning they did very little in terms of updating the character models.

Re: Deals: The Best Nintendo Switch Micro SD Cards

NESguy94

I'd personally avoid Samsung cards with Nintendo products. My 128GB EVO micro SD failed almost immediately. Data was corrupted and the Switch. I put it in my go-pro while on vacation and had zero issue. I formatted it and put it back in my Switch and the issue returned. I called Samsung and they sent a replacement but told me they had issues like this with the New 3DS and Switch fairly regularly. The new card has the exact same issue but it doesn't happen as often.

Re: Video: Here's What Star Fox 2 Looks Like On The SNES Classic Edition

@9th_Sage
It's hard to tell how fast it was initially supposed to run without having a physical cartridge from Nintendo. All of the homebrew carts run on gutted FX chip boards and they run at different speeds. The emulators will likely play it faster as this game would have been very taxing in the SNES' hardware therefore causing natural slowdown.

I'm glad they upped the difficulty. The unreleased version was WAY too easy for a Star Fox game.

Re: Random: Sealed Copy Of Super Mario Bros. Fetches Over $30,000 On eBay

NESguy94

This isn't even a rare game or box. I get that this is probably the nicest first print I've ever seen but that's a ridiculous price. I personally have 2 mint CIB first run copies of SMB. He overpaid by $28,000 - $29,000 if you want to look at the average selling price.
I've never been into collecting sealed games personally. I trade them for other high end games that I can play.

Re: Review: Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap (Switch eShop)

NESguy94

This looks awesome! The SMS is one of very few systems I haven't owned so I'd love to give it a go. Has there been any word on whether this will get a physical release? I'd prefer to play it on the Switch but if Limited Run releases it for PS4 I'll be going that direction.

Re: Nintendo Switch Teardown Suggests Production Cost Is Around $260 Per Unit

NESguy94

@Fandabidozi
I'd like to see Sony create something to compete with the Switch/3DS. The Vita should have done well on all accounts but they just didn't bring enough AAA heavy hitters to move systems. I enjoy JRPGs so it's a great system for me, but that's a fairly niche audience in the west.
If they want to succeed they'll need more than watered-down ports and a decent Uncharted. If they could bring something like DOOM or Dark Souls on the go could really move units.

Re: Report: Amazon UK Offering Partial Refunds Following Nintendo Switch Joy-Con Complaints

NESguy94

I know 6 people with Switches and only one has had an issue with the Joycon, but he had the docked system in an enclosed cabinet. I've messed around a lot with this on my system and can't replicate the problem. I have mine sitting next to my router, and 14 other game system. I turned on most of them and enabled wifi, Bluetooth etc and still didn't experience interference. I want to see how many people are really having this issue and if the internet is blowing t out of proportion. I know it's legit but I feel most people aren't effected.

Re: NES Classic Edition Teardown Peeks Inside the Tiny System

NESguy94

Th two 6 wire connectors (probably controller connectors) look promising. You might be able to attach original NES ports to it at this point. The NES only uses 5 of its 7 controller wires. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Nintendo used the same NES shift registers that they used in the 80's.
