@Peach64 I imagine it's because a lot of people were bored when they decided to make like 10 minutes of the stream dedicated to it considering it was pretty well paced up until then. Felt like they just overstayed their welcome.
@Prizm Sony left E3 after the laughable 2018 one where they spent a bunch of time wrangling people from a gimmicky tent to the actual auditorium with some guys talking to fill in the dead air. Now all we get are these State of Plays where we can't see the one announcer guy that wasn't Shawn Layden get angrier in real time.
@Real_Obsi I guess the RE fans might after they pretty much forced REsistence to suffer a slow and painful death while stapled to R3make and followed it up with that godawful looking new MP one that's straight outta 2008.
@RR529 From what I recall, the real change came from how they adapted Protoculture, which didn't work at all with how the later Macross series depicted it. Basically, "Protoculture" in Robotech is some kind of energy source or something and a whole civilization in Macross. The Master Saga (Southern Cross) got the most reworking of the three with the setting being shifted to Earth and New Generation (Genesis Climber MOSPEADA) being the most unchanged of the three. Aside from them making Rick from the first season a recurring character, I think all three were mostly separate with them basically going "yeah that guy over there is actually this guy from the first season".
@eltomo They're really hit and miss with leaks. It's hilarious how they'll have a million garbage ones that are obvious scams and then have a random one that nails everything like the Switch reveal event. I guess /v/'s gutter culture just makes it that much easier to blend in.
@anoyonmus Looked into that and it seems that the earliest report of MH Rise was made by a Reddit user named PracticalBrush12. Not sure if that's his alt though because Dusk Golem goes by AestheticGamer on there iirc.
@Yosher The point of these specifically is clout chasing. Dusk Golem is an attention whoring fraud that keeps "leaking" news of all these highly demanded games. Dino Crisis, RE Code Veronica, MGS, Silent Hill, and Bloodborne PC/PS5 were all being "leaked" by him and almost all of them have been completely debunked while he's playing the Emily Rogers card of saying "n-no not THIS presentation, they delayed it" when the event that was supposed to have the MGS or SH announcements doesn't have either.
@WoomyNNYes MS and Bethesda (assuming they're having separate conferences until the buyout is fully done) are going to be hard pressed to keep their usual antics to a minimum. Phil's gotta limit his talk about gamers rising up, Sarah's gonna intro the GP demo reel, and Todd won't get a hundred drunken neckbeards WOOing at him when he announces that dragons are coming to Wolfenstein 3. Might not even get the random car on a stage either.
I'm calling it now: It's their own "guy that made series you love is crowdfunding a spiritual successor" for Silent Hill, but people are all expecting name brand Silent Hill because selling them "Quiet Knoll" won't cut it. Kinda hoping it is a spiritual successor for the sour grapes of seeing Dusk Golem (the guy making a bunch of these rumors) get BTFO again when he's caught red handed lying to get clout.
@Grumblevolcano Those games would probably be fine, but I wonder what would happen with Atlus. They're way too big for Nintendo and Sony for them to just go along with it and I doubt the devs would stick around if anyone actually bought them.
Also Bayonetta 3 is already financed by Nintendo iirc.
The MTX in this game feel so forced and half baked like those consumables in Capcom games. There's "Get people to buy shiny skins and cosmetics to show off." and then there's "We did this because the execs said we had to. We're not thrilled about it either.". This is very much the latter. It's a single player game that should take about 40-60 hours to 100% on a bind playthrough. A lot of the skins on offer have pieces that can be bought for free with currency you get from the daily/weekly "challenges" (running ones are actually tough though), don't really look much better than what is already in the base game, and often go up against actual stat upgrades. Crappy Neptune skin or shortcut to maxing out my stamina? Gee, I wonder what I'll spend this free currency on /s. At least with games like the Atelier series of Falcom's JRPGs, there's the appeal of having swimsuits or goofy costumes for the ones that are into that sort of thing. It feels like the video game equivalent of a tired store clerk half heartedly asking if you want the membership they already know you aren't interested in so their manager doesn't give them crap. I would say don't support that practice and let Ubisoft know that it's a waste of everyone's time. Is it really worth spending resources having this system put in place? Is there a goldmine of potential customers that they'll make tons of money off of when they get the game on a deep discount years later or "free" when it's on something like Game Pass?
@3RedTriangles Even then, these games don't really seem the type that get that horny. Character designs definitely give the impression, but that's about it from what I've seen so far from the first one. I guess censorship concerns would be more of an issue if they're making another Nights of Azure or Blue Reflection since those go a little further in that regard.
Box art makes it look more like a mockbuster than an actual MH movie. Like The Asylum got the rights to the name "Monster Hunter" before Capcom could and pooped out a joint that's 95% dudes hanging around a desert, 1% credits, and 4% bad CGI Rathalos killing people in poor visibility.
Going with Switch and SeX. Don't care for the majority of PS' first party IPs and their third party ones are usually either *Also On PC or *Timed Exclusive, both of which just mean that getting them on console is a waste of money for me. I don't really care all that much for Xbox's IPs either, but Game Pass negates the need for me to get my fill of them.
@TsukiDeity Same reason it happened with NoA a few years back: the western branches make more, so they are given more say into this sort of thing. PS is too big for a lot of these small companies to ignore and they are well aware of it, which is made worse when considering the overwhelming majority of the playerbase is unaware of these games and wouldn't bother with them even if they were. It's also ridiculous when the games are multiplat as the intended audience will probably just get it on the platform that doesn't have these changes.
Clearly, there would've been confusion over Gods & Monsters and Monster Energy Supercross. Two very similar games such as these would undoubtedly be mixed up by such deceptively identical titles and looks.
"Industry insiders"/"leakers" are just the grown up version of that kid from grade school that made up stuff that totally, for real happened without evidence.
Is it finally happening? Are we finally moving past the "formal" and "polite" phase of corporations and towards full blown WWF showdowns? Is this actually all kayfabe to get all the brandboys buying to defend m'company because they finally realize how cringe it is to have their Twitter accounts flirt with each other to look #relatable and wholesome 100?
@Stocksy Weren't there multiple projects like that? I remember some devs making their own REmake2 got hired for the official one while Daymare was another team that either missed the bus or were passed on.
@elpardo1984 Absolutely. I don't mind the way they deliver news, but when it's crap I don't care about like talk about how "gamers are rising up", "unparalleled creativity" (more games in the same 3-4 genres), or out of place mobile game announcements, I get the feeling that I may have taken off for lunch later for nothing.
2015 and 2016 were tied for me, but my vote was still the latter. Sticking points are for both years. -Unforgivable and incompetent shortages that any other company would be blasted for. Store exclusives are especially hard to get to the point that there's rumors about some autistic guy buying tons of them out of hate for the characters with family and government handout money. GameStop was DDoS'd by people trying to just get a Ness Amiibo. This was bad enough when FE Awakening was hard to find at launch, now it's happening with their products across the board and mostly in NA despite it being one of their biggest markets. No excuses because other regions were way more responsive to this with restocks and reruns of stuff. -Horrendous localizations with forced memes, missing DLC, cutting/disabling content instead of trying to make it work, bloated filesizes despite no dual audio, and delays between regional releases (almost a freaking year for XCX and Fates to be released in English and like 3 months for Yoshi's Wooly World in NA despite it already being out in Europe). Fates and TMS were so bad that they can be pointed to as a catalyst for the 3DS and the Wii U getting hacked just to use fan translations. Even Sony was cashing in on this by letting devs go wild on PS4 (this was before HQ moved to LA). -E3 2015 was an absolute bloated joke with more time spent on games we already knew everything we needed about going in. MPFF was a poorly communicated and timed announcement that brought unwarranted hate to the team making it. This was made worse when Iwata passed away and that was his last show, all in puppet form. 2016 was so barren that all they had was Zelda and Pokemon (iirc) with Treehouse. Not even a Direct. -Not entirely sure, but didn't Club Nintendo die during this time as well? -"Who asked for another Sticker Star?" 1.0 -Wii U was getting mogged by the 3DS hard throughout this time and knowing that "NX" was coming just made it harder to bother getting one especially with all the games that were skipping it that year. -3DS doesn't come with a charger anymore because they want to sell the proprietary one and Europe apparently requires you to use a standard (can't blame them for not wanting to use the carcinogen that is micro USB tbh) -The worst Mario Party to date and a horrendous Animal Crossing board game that needs Amiibo -The entire Fatal Frame fiasco. Franchise is probably dead now because of how hard 5 bombed and their terrible handling of its release has no excuses. -Speaking of which, poor marketing all around(Super Spoopy Trailer xD). Also doesn't help that someone at NoA got publicly sacked for escort work.
I expected it to be ALL "we already know this, the only news here is a release date at best" kind of announcements once the length of the video was given out. Wasn't expecting SMT V, let alone a Nocturne remaster announcement, so it's definitely an "impressed" vote for me.
@NightMiroir I think besides Persona 2: Eternal Punishment, the only game(s) to have a female protagonist is/are Japan only. SMT if... was one of them(female choice is canon), but I remember there being an old Windows one that also had a female protag as well. Maken X gets an honorary mention since it was made by the a lot of SMT and Persona team members, but it's a separate IP and universe entirely.
EDIT: Just SMT if... and Persona 2: EP from the looks of it.
I'll never understand why any of these companies even bother filling time with news about mobile games. Sure, it's a growing market, but who is coming to E3 or dedicated game news streams to hear about that? Just give 'em their own stream or video like FEH Channel! Don't waste our time making us think it's a new (console/PC) game only for it to be some gacha or moba garbage!
@Rayquaza2510 The censorship in those games was done by the localization teams having the power to remove what they personally wanted to remove because the execs in Japan felt that they knew best especially with Nintendo gaining a lot of their revenue from the NA market. This is, of course, ill advised as the removal of anime fanservice or whatever isn't going to do anything for the average westerner that gets filtered by the artstyle and genre and any sales success is more likely to do with marketing than regionally cut content.
@Jakiboy Same lol. It's gonna be another LiS/LiS spinoff, Just Cause 5, some Hitman 3 stuff, more smartphone stuff for that FF mobile game, ports/remasters, and then some minor info on BD2.
Couldn't you do that already with CFW? Wasn't the big meme a few months after launch that the had a huge honkin' hardware exploit that took a paperclip to bypass and couldn't get patched? Do they also install a modchip if it's a launch model Switch?
@Anvold I would also say that it's usually secondaries that are more interested in a game because it's popular right now than because of the game itself.
@Clammy Can't really blame you regarding 3. I personally found it really disappointing as someone that was initially psyched for it after seeing all the cool demos they had for it and even moreso when seeing all the stuff left on the cutting room floor as a result of Ken Levine wanting a bunch of 11th hour changes.
Anyone else notice the ESRB E rating despite it not being recognized on their website? Any Windows devs here to confirm if you can plug in your own rating or not? I noticed something similar with a game called Black Otaku on there having an E10+ (also absent from ESRB's website) despite the realistic (for the artstyle) guns and violence. At least that looked like an actual game.
Awesome. First one was pretty fun from the bit I played aside from figuring out where exactly you were supposed to tap/slide during the scratch minigames. Might finish it if schedule allows for it in time for Crystal.
@Seananigans I like to think of it as a convenience store sort of deal in that the store is pretty much attached to Unreal Engine and you can buy a game while browsing or even some freebies just from having it. Much more enticing than "make an account download a launcher for our underfeatured store just to play this game until we let it be sold somewhere else a year from now". Also as a not early access, but you can get some indies before their wider release kind of store like how Va-11 Hall-A was on itch prior to releasing on Steam.
This makes me more annoyed with the retailers than the dev. A 16 year old just reminded everyone that big companies like Amazon, Best Buy, Target, Walmart, and wherever else people get commonly scalped things are so easily manipulated into selling their stock to these scalper parasites. Not only that, but any counter measures would mean making it more of a pain in the ass for people that just want to legitimately buy things for themselves. This isn't like the crap in 2015 when tons of stuff was way rarer outside of Japan despite Europe and the US being literally and figuratively larger markets even after the whole dock strike thing.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the Stadia versions just the games running on a PC (or server) and then streamed? I know people are pissed that EA's going for the way smaller market here, but it's not like they went out of their way and spent all these resource to make a port just for Stadia and the 12 people using it.
Nintendo ought to be cracking down on these bot sites as a top priority. The emu sites and fan projects can wait when this crap is actively getting in the way between them and sales. Sure, the consoles are selling, but they're not going to someone with the intention of buying games for them.
Amazing. They combined the "We're going to announce a product you might actually want. LOL jk April Fool's haha gotcha xD" and "Teasing an April Fool's joke in advance so it's not a surprise at all when it happens" strains for the ultimate eyeroll inducer.
@Yosher Not only that, it means more headaches for the Direct crews since now they have to do even more work to keep word from getting out, companies get pissed at Nintendo for letting that happen, and they're having to deal with constant reminders not to spoil the Directs despite it likely being someone they already told to knock it off repeatedly.
@Cromwell That's the worst part of all these changes. Had they not occurred, none of these tiring controversies would've even happened. It's the same crap as the Disney movies nowadays that have the whole "racists and incels vs good fans and critics" narrative all leading up to another mediocre Marvel flick or remake.
I would much rather have whatever the successor is be what's next. Just keep focusing on pumping out some more exclusives and have the hardware team(s) focus on making the Switch 2 or whatever the best it can be out of the gate. If it's backwards compatible too, then even better. It'll be 5 or even 6 years by the time the big next gen games started coming out for PS5 and SeX.
Going with Fatal Frame because it was done dirty outside of Japan. Digital only save for an LE, the LE was only available in Europe, pitiful marketing (or SUPER SPOOPY if you will), and then it had the censorship nonsense as a final kick in the shin.

Re: Saucy Dungeon Crawler Moero Crystal H Is Making Its Western Debut On Switch
Awesome. First one was pretty fun from the bit I played aside from figuring out where exactly you were supposed to tap/slide during the scratch minigames. Might finish it if schedule allows for it in time for Crystal.
Re: Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 And 2 Remasters Officially Revealed, But They're Skipping Switch
Re: Creator Of New Checkout Bot Targeting Online Switch Stock Discusses Backlash
Re: Random: Switch Fans React To EA's Partnership With Google Stadia
Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the Stadia versions just the games running on a PC (or server) and then streamed? I know people are pissed that EA's going for the way smaller market here, but it's not like they went out of their way and spent all these resource to make a port just for Stadia and the 12 people using it.
Re: Nintendo Confirms That Around 160,000 Accounts May Have Been Hacked, Personal Info Possibly At Risk
@MortalKombat2007 Can be used to track down your SSN. Obviously won't work if you lied about the year though.
Re: New Checkout Bot Targeting Online Switch Stock Is Driving The Scalpers Market In North America
Nintendo ought to be cracking down on these bot sites as a top priority. The emu sites and fan projects can wait when this crap is actively getting in the way between them and sales. Sure, the consoles are selling, but they're not going to someone with the intention of buying games for them.
Re: Hideki Kamiya Explains PlatinumGames' Disappointing April Fools' Joke
Amazing. They combined the "We're going to announce a product you might actually want. LOL jk April Fool's haha gotcha xD" and "Teasing an April Fool's joke in advance so it's not a surprise at all when it happens" strains for the ultimate eyeroll inducer.
Re: Rumour: Prolific Leaker Says We'll Get Paper Mario And A 2D Metroid This Year
@Yosher Not only that, it means more headaches for the Direct crews since now they have to do even more work to keep word from getting out, companies get pissed at Nintendo for letting that happen, and they're having to deal with constant reminders not to spoil the Directs despite it likely being someone they already told to knock it off repeatedly.
Re: Prison Princess Breaks Out Later This Month, Here's A Trailer
@Cromwell That's the worst part of all these changes. Had they not occurred, none of these tiring controversies would've even happened. It's the same crap as the Disney movies nowadays that have the whole "racists and incels vs good fans and critics" narrative all leading up to another mediocre Marvel flick or remake.
Re: Poll: What Features Would You Want In A Switch 'Pro'?
I would much rather have whatever the successor is be what's next. Just keep focusing on pumping out some more exclusives and have the hardware team(s) focus on making the Switch 2 or whatever the best it can be out of the gate. If it's backwards compatible too, then even better. It'll be 5 or even 6 years by the time the big next gen games started coming out for PS5 and SeX.
Re: Poll: What Other Wii U Games Do You Want To See On Switch?
Going with Fatal Frame because it was done dirty outside of Japan. Digital only save for an LE, the LE was only available in Europe, pitiful marketing (or SUPER SPOOPY if you will), and then it had the censorship nonsense as a final kick in the shin.
