Video: Bravely Default: Flying Fairy HD Remaster Shows Off Switch 2 Mouse Minigames

Definitely picking this up, love the original and been meaning to replay it for awhile, though I do wish they weren't for some reason hiding being able to turn random encounters off behind these minigames. With how early in the game you hit the level cap is it's a very time-saving feature to have and I'd probably never touch the minigames if I could avoid it, especially since I have no sense of rhythm whatsoever.

I loved the 3ds release, but not sure if I see enough new here to buy again. Will need to see more.

Can we play the mouse mini games with just regular motion controls?

I will just have to remember the good time I had with the handheld game. I am not forking over a dime for a game key card. Which means unfortunately I will likely never play any SquareEnix games on Switch 2 - including Final Fantasy VII Remake - as it appears none of the pending SE releases for the Switch 2 are actual game cartridges. Alas. it was too good to be true to have SE games on carts on 2. And it will likely apply to any Kingdom Hearts which of course had the lame cloud version releases on 1.

This game looks great and I have never given it a try. Going to be one of the few launch games I get with my Switch bundle.

PS: I don’t get the hatred for the game key card releases. Yes they are annoying and take away some of the value, but to outright not buy the game seems outrageous.

@Hero-of-WiiU Eh I'm also not forking over any cash for something worth nothing in about 5 to 6 years. You want physical for when your Switch eventually gives up, so you can port it all over to another one. This won't let you do that, so why not wait for a sale and just download the thing from the eShop?

It's just putting costs on consumers while having your face in the store. But you can apparently at least resell them to someone else, is that correct?

@Hero-of-WiiU On a brighter note: The game is fantastic! I played the ever loving heck out of it on 3ds.

It's light on story, which is still great, but big on QOL features.

The game can best be described as an rpg boss rush game. You constantly meet new job classes, but to get them you have to defeat them. They usually come in pairs and show you the ultimate way of playing and supporting those classes. It's always a satisfying puzzle how you can unravel them.

The job class system is perfection too. Letting you swap freely without losing progress and easier mix Jobs and abilities because you can keep abilities from different classes.

Can't rave about this one enough, have fun!!

@garfreek I'm not sure you understand how the Key Cards work. They download the game to your device in the same way buying the game from the eshop does.

If you can buy the game from the eShop, then a Key Card will still work. So I'm not sure why you think all these Key Cards will be worthless in 6 years time, unless you think Nintendo is done and will cease to exist in that time?

@Kiz3000 if the server shut down or the game is delisted the key card will be worthless to sell or trade in...

this is nintendo fault these key cards for only offering 2 file sized for carts 1 gig and 64 gigs and 64 gigs carts are expensive no wonder third party companies are going key card route..

I have BD2 on Switch, but never played it, because I haven't played the first entry. I might get this, so I can play both. But it definitely won't be at launch and it definitely will be for a hefty 50% discount.

I loved this game until it became repetitive in the second half.
So it will be interested to see if this remaster gives it some more variety.

@Kiz3000 Because they have a reputation of closing e-shops when people are still using those consoles on a massive scale.

I’m playing through the 3DS original atm and it’s easily one of my favourite games ever.

Im picking it up as a key card but its pretty much the same as buying a ps5 game disc. You gotta download the game anyway. None of its on the disc anymore. I think sony fans just adopted the game not being on the disc faster so it doesnt really matter to me.

The mini games do look fun but i dont like the forced use of mouse controls. Like will i always be in front of a desk? Wat if i decide to take it to the park? Will i have to have a flat surface to enjoy my game?

Dunno what kind of discount you looking for but itll never dip below 30 dollars especially since its a $40 game. Inflation is going really strong so itll probably be 6 yrs before you see its first discount

@PinderSchloss @johnedwin I dont disagree with either of you but the person I was replying to was alluding to Key Cards being worse than eShop downloads for longevity, when these two are actually exactly the same.

Key Cards have the advantage of being able to sell them but the disadvantage that you have to have the cart in the system to play.

Physical trumps all of course for longevity.

@garfreek dunno why you think its any different than a eshop purchase theyre both worth nothing down the line. But if you buy from eshop its nothing from the start. Most people arent physical collectors. You have the small niche group buying collectors editions which they will scalp to amounts you will never afford and then the people who will also buy base versions will scalp that too. Switch games arent worth much compared to old school retro gameboy games. Like any of the games from the 90s go for a lot because of the nostalgia behind it. People arent chasing the 2020 nostalgia since all they will remember is covid and inflation. Kids these days are happy with their fortnite and mobile games. Handheld gamers are pretty much the same 90s kids that grew up to be dads currently.

@BansheeNorn I'm from the Netherlands and deep discounts happen a lot on Square Enix games, especially 50% off. I got Bravely Default 2 for € 18. That's a 70% discount.

Patience is the key. Sure, it was discounted after the game had been out for over a year. But I don't care. My backlog is big enough to keep me entertained for two lifetimes.

For example: You can't download anything for Wiiu or 3ds anymore. That wasn't that long ago. This will happen with the key cards too because the servers shut down or the publisher pulls it from the eShop (which happened sooner than the shutdown with a lot of games!)

Mice are nice but I'd rather clarify about the dual audio - a commonality in some Square Enix games but absent or subject to fine print in a couple comebacks like TWEWY or Minstrel Song.

@garfeek you can still reportedly download DSiWare/WiiWare purchases over a decade later, let alone the Gen 8 stuff. Same with delisted titles on Switch - as long as you've bought it, you can reinstall it. Except for select goofups like The Crew or general anomalies like retail "cloud versions", most exceptions are freemiums you don't purchase to begin with.

Really sad I missed this back in the day on my own 3DS, and this is the kind of cozy, old-school, party-based RPG I'm currently in the mood for! But now because of the key-card I'm conflicted between buying it digital for the convenience or buying the key-card to collect the game case alongside my other RPG's.

I will wait until this goes on sale. Since they can't even put it on Full Cart this game can wait. I would go back to the 3DS that is Full physical game.

I actually have it downloaded on my New 3DS XL and its a good, good game. But double dip worthy? Not so sure. Even with "extras" and Switch 2 horsepower visual upgrades. Doesn't necessarily add to that interesting gameplay.

@BansheeNorn I want to have your problems with mouse control. 95% I'm playing docked and with Pro Controller. Do I have to stand up and release the JoyCons just to play a Minigame?
