SNK Announces ACA NEOGEO Selection Vol. 5 And Vol. 6 For Switch

Tempting... but I bought the Street Fighter Collections a while back and just couldn't pull off the special moves on the Switch controller to save my life. I assume it would be the same scenario here(?)

I always wanted a neo geo, so thank you Nintendo, SNK and Hamster for making that possible.

Without me selling a kidney.

All six collections could fit on one cartridge. Not only would it save plastic and money for customers, increase the portability, I also think a lot more people would buy it, making it one of those cartridges you always carry with your switch. I don't want six mini collections of Neo Geo games but something like the mega-drive classics collection is really tempting.

I'm not interested also because I already have most of these games in my library. I'm not convinced by the choice of games in these collections, it seems to be completely random. Actually not really, Aero Fighters 2 and 3 are in two different collections for the happiness of fans of the genre.

I wish Nintendo would do this with their arcade classics on one cartridge.

@Moistnado I feel the same way with lots of the collections on switch. Taito comes to mind, release them all on one cart and stop messing everyone around. I ended up not buying any at all.

@Ironcore Had Taito simply followed the same contents as the four-volume memories series, I’d have been delighted. Each of those had tons of games, many of which were excellent. Still a shame the last two volumes were Japan-only.

One card for all NEO GEO games would be reeeally expensive! It would be amazing, mind...but eye wateringly dear. Which to be fair would echo the originals asking price hahaha!

Individual collections for, like, 17kB worth of ROMs is wild, man.

I'd also like a universal collection. Mr Do! Mr. Do's Castle Mr. Do's Wild Ride Do Run Run and Lady Bug.

I just want the Neo Geo football games to return to the store. Only the first Super Sidekicks is available for some reason.

Bit late, like. In the coming up on 5 years I’ve had a Switch, I’ve already caned Arcade Archives for most of what I wanted digitally. Only things left are the two Last Blade games, but I’m just waiting a bit for if they ever get a discount.

Great news! I was waiting for an announcement. I’m very happy to see the Sonic Wings (Aero Fighters) games in there, but bummed there’s still no Magician Lord or Nam ‘75. Next batch, hopefully!

Oh neat! Twinkle Star Sprites is probably my favorite Neo Geo game. I had it on Dreamcast and currently have it on Switch from the ACA so I likely won't get this collection but it's cool to see it in physical again!

are this just the arcade archive releases ? seems a bit overdue.. and now waiting for evercade to release the neo geo games for the alpha...

@SillyG LOL at the "collection of 17KB of ROM". This is a NeoGeo collection, not 2600!

i will need to pick these up eventually if only to own these title physically for the first time.

If they include a game that's not on the ACA like Voltage Fighter Gowcaizer, Double Dragon, Far East of Eden: Kabuki Klash, and Power Instinct Matrimelee then I may buy it. I'm still waiting for my copy of Rage of the Dragons NEO to arrive, QByte took forever to ship these for some reason.

It really does feel cheap putting ten games per collection, especially considering how random the selection of games is.
I bought myslef one of those NeoGeo minis, and that contains around 50 games. I'd buy a collection like that in a heartbeat. This however won't get a single penny from me.

I'll just collect these releases...

Does anybody know if these physical collections include the Hi-Score and Caravan modes? Taito Milestones releases don't.

Anyway, it's too late for many of us, having already purchased a high percentage of the collected games individually. If only we had known it before...

But it must be the longest wait between a digital and a physical release on Switch's history.

The Internet says it is because they had "Hong Kong" teams. And China threw its weight around, so rather than editing HK out, they just removed them from the market.

I too would like to buy Super Sidekicks 3 or Neo Geo Cup '98 which are regarded as the best of them.

I highly doubt those games will be released outside of Japan as physical releases. I'm a bit surprised they'll be in Japan.

It's a shame too because we could have some incredible retro collections as you mention. The preservationist in me would love if companies just dumped their entire 16/32-bit catalog onto a single cart.

I was hoping we'd eventually reach that point where old games were so 'worthless' (due to being seen as obsolete, or the easy access to retro emulators) companies would sell their catalogs in big bundles, but if anything the sales of these remakes/collections have made it clear the fans will buy it piecemeal for 10x the price.
