A new Switch 2 dock accessory may soon become a reality if the upcoming Kickstarter campaign proves to be a success. From Retro Fighters, the BattleDock essentially turns your Switch 2 into a functional GameCube (well, sort of) with the inclusion of four ports for wired GameCube controllers.
To be clear, this isn't a replacement for your official dock, but rather an extension. So, according to the details on the Kickstarter page, your official dock simply slides into the BattleDock (dock-ception!) and is then connected via USB-C.

The priority here is low-latency compatibility with GameCube controllers for competitive play, with the pads fully supported with titles like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
Included with the BattleDock are four magnetic covers to give it some personality. As standard, you get Spice Orange, Indigo, Jet Black, and Platinum Silver (though the Spice Orange variant is way more yellow than it is orange, in our opinion), but a stretch goal at $100K will also include Smoke Black, White, and Comet Red.
The campaign will be fully funded at $10K, and each BattleDock costs $36 for backers (MSRP is set at $39.99). You can sign up now to be notified of its launch if you're interested in giving it your support.
Let us know with a comment what you think of the BattleDock so far. Do you think you'll give it a shot?

And as it's not a Nintendo Official, they will brick your Switch 2 if you use it (maybe)
But it does look great, hopefully the above statement doesnt happen but you never know
I read that the USB-C protocol used by the Switch 2 to communicate with the dock is proprietary, so these alternative docks are not gonna be available anytime soon.
Holy cow that’s ugly
nice gaming room trinket.
Always wary of attaching anything to a dock built and specked to do a particular job. Those fans are not for show.
@Athropos it is not really a dock if i read it correctly. It more like gc-controller adapter which fits on a dock.
This is something I expected to see already in the Switch 1 generation – advanced docks with extra functionalities.
I now hope to see a dock that integrates in its body a capture card so it can be a quick-and-easy feature that is baked in for use.
That is just GC adapter with extra steps.
Yeah, and there goes your Switch 2 if one or more of the players show a little too much enthusiasm or rage during a Melee fight and pull on the controllers too hard, resulting in the fall of the dock and console.
@Athropos @Bunkerneath It's not actually a dock, just a GC controller adaptor
Pretty cool idea - not particularly interested in getting one myself (I'm perfectly fine with the GameCube adapter and when I get it also the Switch 2 GameCube controller), but I hope it gets funded for those interested in it!
Should include a disc drive to let you play disc gamecube games.
an extension to your original dock is exactly how it should be, the only time i hear about independent 3rd party docks is when it damages the system lol
Pfft... Remind me again when they make it compatible with the Game Boy Player.
I'm already seeing people pulling the cord a bit too tight a bit too quickly, causing the dock to fall over, causing the Switch 2 to fall out, causing it to break when it hits the Cheetos dust and coke can littered floor.
BattleDock, eh? I mean, those holes make it look like the Switch 2 dock is a mechanical monster with four eyes, so...
Breaking news: All 1 million plus Switch 2's that have been sold in Japan have taken over the country, America is next
Just me being silly 😂
I understand why comments were disabled on the Canada NSO article, but I feel the need to mention that the title was very clibkbaity. 'Canadian NSO Prices to Rise' would have been more appropriate and less obviously trying to force readers to click on the full article.
That said, this attachment seems very cool!!
Yeah, no, thanks, I hate it. Looks really ugly and doesn't capture the GameCube esthetic at all. Why not go all the way and make a cubical dock?
Aesthetically not very appealing, but I guess it should be popular for those playing Smash.
Yeh, I'll just stick with my original gamecube and crt tv. And for single play, NOL gamecube controller.
Does a Wavebird work with the Switch 2 is the big question now... Hmmm.
Removed - trolling/baiting
@Yosher Cord? I mean, Wavebird right?
@KoopaTheGamer Eep Barbra Derkle! Somebody's going to get laid in college.
@Misima Not everyone has those! I don't have any Wavebirds.
"To be clear, this isn't a replacement for your official dock, but rather an extension"
Hey guys, just a thought, but maybe if you wanted to be clear you shouldn't call it a dock in the dang title of the article?
Can I have one for looks instead for Switch original.
@ShieldHero you gave me a good laugh. I definitely would want one, the jet black to go with my jet black GameCube that's been collecting dust for sometime.
@AmyTheBrawler, thanks for the reply! I'm still new to the world of internet forums (just made my first account for one yesterday and it's this site) and I've seen jokes like mine a lot on this site. Here's hoping I can come up with a lot more!
@Misima i’d like to know that as well.
Can't wait for my friends to yank my whole dock and console off of the TV stand because they forgot they were using wired controllers.
A fair extension, NOT a DOCK. I don't care for looks only function and I think it looks fine. If it works well and it's not too hacky then by all means. You never know how Nintendo goes about cable ports or control over things even if they look like regular ports you never know how they are configured for their purposes.
I can see from the image exactly what it is, not the title. So to me I can read/understand images and how extensions or adapters work.
The same way the GameCube third party screens did, or Gameboy Player or any others worked. Let alone the GameCube controller adapter for Wii U/Switch 1.
@Yosher I have six. I was a wasteful young adult.
@Misima I don't think I even ever saw Wavebirds in stores over here. Only regular GameCube controllers.
Ok. The idea is pretty nice.
My biggest concern would be, if it is safe the same way as the original dock in terms of voltage and cooling.
@CutchuSlow this would be even better ❤️
Hopefully, there are skins available by someone for GameCube-style Joy Cons to make this look better.
@Nintendo4Sonic To your point, it would be nice for the article to have a picture of the backside to be sure fans are unobstructed since it's a "sleeve" the dock fits into. But the rear picture on the Kickstarter page shows an open back.
@RafaelNadal @Yosher Since the back is open, it does seem like it will make the whole setup more front-heavy than the docked Switch 2 already is.
@JohnnyMind dude if i were a betting man, id wager my life savings that you end every single solitary comment with an exclamation point. I'd be a millionaire haha
@Zerodogg Ha ha, unfortunately you'd lose as I've already left a couple of comments ending in ellipses, question marks and even (gasp) periods... but yes, usually I end with an exclamation point - can't help doing so when most of the time I'm really feeling it in one way or another when leaving comments here on Nintendo Life!
@JohnnyMind haha you got me! I actually really enjoy reading your replys, you're always a good sport and are very well informed! Keep up the good work, and best of luck with your channel, I'm rooting for ya!
@Zerodogg Thank you!
@KoopaTheGamer If this truly uses 1 USB C port, then it's already better cause the Wii U/Switch GCN adaptor uses 2 USB A ports
