Shinobi: Art Of Vengeance Is Getting A Limited Run Physical Switch Release

I imagine with a release like this that we will also get a non limited run after the game actually comes out.

If you dont like Limited Run games, Japan gets a physical version fir 2700yen. Could order that instead.

I hate how all these really cool retro throwback type games are limited run. Any excuse to make us feel forced to buy it at ridiculous prices or deal with scalpers later on. Then they'll go for even more ridiculous prices than they already are now.

Everytime a major publisher game gets a physical release via LRG, the headline should be "X is getting a physical release, but there's a catch."

Wasn't this already confirmed for physical release alongside the game's formal unveiling? The website doesn't include any reference to it being limited-time...

Thank goodness for LRG. I keep hearing rumors that they are not great people? (I honestly don't know the story). But they are keeping physical games alive, and for that, I am super grateful.

Also, thank even MORE goodness for Play-Asia, the true heroes we all deserve, or need... whichever one is better.

I preordered this one on vgp with a few other games already, I can’t wait for this one. I’m really hoping we get a release for terminator 2d no fate soon. I’m really looking forward to that one. Fangamer still has pizza tower, Anton blast, and crow county I’m waiting on to.

@Chocobo_Shepherd LRG is keeping physical gaming alive sure, but you won't actually get to play the game until 5-7months from its release, if you only get the standard edition as the collectors editions can take even longer.

It's basically a double-edged sword.

Will wait for the anniversary edition that included the inevitable DLC.

The way they’ve partnered with Sega is genuinely disappointing. Their website has so much garbage that is themed around Sega merchandise, I just genuinely can’t imagine it being overwhelmingly popular.

I think we may get a second Yakuza game on Switch today, and if so LRG is going to be the only way to scoop a physical copy

I actually had some orders from Strictly Limited that I cancelled because they were like TWO YEARS OLD with no actual delivery in sight O_o

@ScalenePowers I hope this is the case. The idea of a SEGA Shinobi game having a limited physical release would feel so strange. To me, at least. I am an old man and owned a Master System and felt excitement when I saw those big blue letters on games and arcade cabinets.

I'll probably pick up a copy once it's widely available on Best Buy or Amazon. Nowadays LRG games typically get sold there a month right after the release date comes to pass.

@Chocobo_Shepherd The reason people don't like Limited Run Games was how awful their service or quality are when it comes to distributing games or produced physical retro games. In terms of distributing modern games they limit the physical release with making a batch number of copies from pre-orders and won't shipped those batch of copies until all pre-orders are place meaning even if the digital release of the game is already out, they still won't ship the physical version unless the initial number of copies are placed.

Other concerns about Limited Run Games is that sometimes they self published these games themselves instead of the actual game publisher so if the game ever gets an update that needs to be patch into the game, if LRG was the publisher they wouldn't be able to get that patch firmware update. This was proven by the copy of SNK vs. Capcom Chaos. SvC Chaos had two physical releases, one by LRG and one by Play-Asia. The LRG version was published by LRG but the Play-Asia version was published by SNK themselves. When SNK sent an updated firmware v.1.0.2 for the game, only those who download the digital version or bought the Play-Asia version gets to download the update but the LRG version can't and would still remain at v.1.0.1.

Other issues includes selling retro games using burn disc instead of press disc, selling retro re-release with low quality repro cartridge that could damage older console or even deteriorate over time making that game undurable to keep, etc. The biggest issue about LRG is that them selling these games had a certain limited window of opportunity, something people point to as FOMO (the fear of missing out) that if a customer don't place their order soon and now they won't get the chance later on among other issues.

Complete waste of time unless you enjoy waiting six further months for your games. Japanese version is the way to go.

This is the route I go any time there’s a choice, but sometimes you preorder from LRG, then later it’s announced there’s a wider retail release.

Another good place for imports if your UK based is Bazaar Bazaar. They have imports from the far east and a selection of Limited Run games. I have used them a couple of times and are very good with free shipping for UK buyers.

@Blast16 Japan still sometimes, thankfully, gets regular retail releases, and are not subjected to the bull 💩 that NA/PAL territories are by having so many titles being held hostage by the low quality scam company that is LRG. They may as well be the new modern LJN 🌈 shudders
