Following a reveal at the Xbox Games Showcase recently, Persona 5 Tactica has now been officially confirmed for the Switch.
It will be released worldwide alongside other versions on 17th November 2023. As the name kind of suggests, this is a new tactical RPG based on the fifth entry in the series. Here's a bit about it direct from the PR:
"Overthrow your enemies with powerful Personas, an assortment of weapons, and wipe them out with style in this fresh new tactical RPG from the award-winning Persona 5 game."
Unfortunately, Persona 3 Reload has also been confirmed for additional platforms, but the Nintendo Switch has not been listed as one of these systems. This remake will be releasing in "early 2024", so if we hear any updates about a Nintendo version, we'll let you know.
Excited about Tactica coming to Switch? Would you like to see P3R eventually make its way across? Comment below.

Cool but not interested. Loved Persona 5 Royal but I've had my fill of those characters. Wake me up when Persona 6 is announced.
Would be a missed opportunity if the 3 remake didn’t come to Switch. But then it’s Atlus.
I think that Atlus honestly might be unsure about P3R at this point considering this is one of their next big games, while P5T obviously just from the style is made to be a game for lesser platforms. Would be awesome to see P3R on Switch, but we still have the original P3P on Switch so it's not a crazy dissapointing loss
We should all know by now, that Atlus is so desperate for money that they're willing to take exclusive reveal money and pretend a game is a console exclusive for at least 2days.
Wasn't this the same with the P3P and P4G announcements last year, they didn't get announced for the switch until a Nintendo Direct.
So maybe P3 Reloaded will be announce at the next Direct...... Soon.
I'm expecting a Partner Showcase this month with P5T and P3R confirmed.
@Rika_Yoshitake Well they are also idiots. Why bring P3 Reloaded to a console that has a 3% market share in Japan and not to the console that has more players than playstation and xbox combined (in japan).
The game doesn't look any better than Persona 5 Royal and that is running fine on the switch, so there's no excuses, and Microsoft wouldn't pay to keep it off the switch especially if they haven't paid to keep it off playstation.
So with that all said I'm 90% sure this is still coming to the switch.
I actually want Tactica more as I loved SMTDS2 so this will scratch that itch. We’ve already got mainline Persona games on Switch so that’s ok.
Best news I’ve seen all day!
I prefer persona 4 cast
@UltimateOtaku91 Lol Japan isn’t the only market for these games.
My guess is we’ll get a postponed switch release sometime later, or it’ll just be confirmed for a successor if it actually exists.
Looks solid. Might just check it out on GP though.
Great to see confirmation of Tactica coming over.
P3R will come to Switch, already leaked via retailers.
You would think they learned how annoying this was the last time. Weird they confirmed Tactica but not the remake. Guess we just have to wait for the Partner Showcase/Direct to know for sure :/
Why do this to the art style?
Back when we were asking for just a Persona 5 and only got one which was not the one we want but now it's looks like we got one Persona 5 too many.
@UltimateOtaku91 it has zero to do with market share.
They clearly have some deals in place with MS as all the recent releases of Persona games, and these two titles as well, are day one on Game Pass.
I'm curious about it but I'll probably just play it on Gamepass.
I’m not really excited for either. I was hoping for a definitive version of P3 and it looks like that’s never going to happen. You have to buy a PS2 to play the answer and the journey and you have to play portable for the female protagonist. Should have been included in the remake.
The DAY after the Activsion deal finally goes though, MS is going to buy Altus. I don't think you can point to another example of such a dramatic shift in the relationship between two companies; from actively making exclusives for both your competitors and ignoring your system to 3 world premiers on your main stage, 2 coming day one to your online service and one looking like a system exclusive, almost overnight. It's like plan was for them to already own them by now or something.
I think it's safe to say they will still be coming to Switch though. I really don't feel like MS is interested in competing with Nintendo any more.
@UltimateOtaku91
3%?
I think you should check again. PC gaming makes up 7% of the total market in Japan, and that jumps up to around 20% when you only consider it against current generation consoles. Plus it's increased 100% in the last 4 years and is looking to increase another 100% by 2027.
Add to that the fact that you can stream Gamepass to two different cloud gaming platforms in Japan, and the install base for Metaphor: ReFantazio is about the same as it would be as an exclusive for either other system.
Oh wait. Did you somehow make a comment about what system Altus is putting games on without considering the fact that they (like virtually all Xbox exclusives) are coming to PC?
Wow.
Depends on what the rating is I might get it! If it's M then will sadly miss out.
The same thing happened last year. They announced Persona 3/4/5 for other platforms. Switch owners were upset. Then Nintendo themselves announced the Switch versions in a late June partner showcase.
I wouldn't get too excited about P3R possibly being on the switch. It turns out P3R isn't going to have the Fes material or the portable's female mc. I can't imagine it will be worth it.
Ok, good. I was hoping it would. Now we just need a P3R announcement.
Ah man, if only we had a leak that made it dead obvious that Persona 3 Reload was coming over to Switch, like a box art leak or something. That would just make my day.

So...Was the deal with the switch version not being announced along the other ones? Did Nintendo is paying Attlus to do so or something? Are they actually that desesperate to have people hyped for their partner showcase!?
@Saturn589
I’m with you. I’ll just wait until the inevitable expanded version fully reloaded comes out around a year or so after this comes out.
The writing in that trailer gave me and the wife a great laugh, so at least there's that.
Hopefully p3r looks and runs good like Catherine cause p5r was pretty blurry with bad audio. I’ll probably just pick it up on gamepass though cause it seems like a lazy cash grab
@HeadPirate My comment was purely based on current consoles available in Japan from the big 3. Which infact xbox consoles currently only have a 2.1 % market share, and these games are primarily played on consoles and have always sold best on consoles. So why would atlus release their games exclusively on a console that skips out 98% of console players in Japan.... They wouldn't and won't, that's why these games either launch on playstation or switch or both. And the day Microsoft buys Sega or just Atlus is the day the shin megami and persona series die, they are the juggernauts they are today because of Nintendo and Playstation.
Strange decision not to bring Persona 3 Reload to Switch. That is mega money for them right there. Atlus makes some great games but as people point out they make oddball decisions. The visual novel fusion with JRPG absolutely suits the Switch handheld hybrid. I had P5R on PS4 as well as the Switch, but only completed the game on the Switch.
I loved P5R and I'll probably get P5T
It’s gonna be ported eventually if it’s not day 1 announced via a Direct like what happened last time especially leaked box sets.
Let’s not be silly and suggest “it’s too weak to run on Switch” as if Persona games were every spec intensive games.
It looks like it would run fine on a Switch, so started thinking maybe they will hold it for Switch 2, but then Atlus do make multi-generational releases.
Must be waiting for a direct.
@HotGoomba box art “leaks” aren’t confirmations, anyone could whip that up in photoshop (which it looks like they did, badly) and get some clicks. Until we get official confirmation from Atlus, Sega or Nintendo, people are going to remain sceptical.
Persona 3 Reload for Switch is listed on retailer GAME website if this is anything to go by.
https://www.game.co.uk/en/m/persona-3-reload-2914160
Wouldn't worry about it, as expected this is the same situation as with Persona 5, 4 Golden and 3 Portable last year as @Aurumonado summarized, except that those were pre-existing games while this time they're completely new ones and obviously between the two Persona 5 Tactica is the one coming out first, when they will announce the actual release date for Persona 3 Reload then we'll see if it's also coming to Switch or not.
Either that or Atlus could simply be keeping the announcement for an upcoming Direct also like last year as @UltimateOtaku91 suggested and let's not forget the leak (assuming it's true, but even if it isn't there's everything else we've discussed) mentioned by @KryptoniteKrunch, @HotGoomba, @Arawn93 and it being listed for Switch on retailer GAME's website as @gb_nes_gamer pointed out!
Seems like confirmation of a Switch successor with Persona 3 Reload as a launch title
why are people surprised? they didn't put Soul Hackers 2 on Switch, their new IP Re Fantasy isn't coming to Switch so clearly their bigger projects are not coming to Switch only smaller tier games and ports
It doesn't look particularly good for switch owners at the moment, but I'm holding out hope until either Atlus states definitively that it is not coming to switch, or the announcement is absent from the next direct. Atlus hasn't been handling marketing very carefully with these two games and it's possible that the switch logo should not have been put up for P5T yet. It's fine, though. I mean, anyone can literally play it in their browser with gamepass ultimate, so no has to miss out. I'd just prefer to play it on switch though.
@Bucky
It's remarkable how you can pull that from this.
This isn't FF7R.
Persona 5 Tactics is the one I'm most excited for. Never liked P3 nearly as much as P4 and P5. I'm definitely interested, but the Tactics game is where it's at.
That said, it's coming.
Also coming out on PS4 and PS5. Seems rude not to mention this following the previous article confirming it on PC and XBox.
Considering the Switch got Persona 5 Strikers and Joker in Smash Bros. before it even got P5 Royal, not surprised in the slightest this will be on Switch as well.
While I do still think P3 Reload is likely to show up on Switch at some point, Atlus has had a history of making bizarre choices so going to approach it as a "it happens if it happens" type of deal.
Atlus will milk P5 until the end of time, aren't they? But oh well, I like xcom style gameplay so I can't complain here
Persona 3 Reload looks like the same engine and specs of Persona 5 Royal so I’m calling bull if it can’t run on the Switch.
It’s cool that we’re getting Persona 5-er Emblem, but I’m seriously hoping for Reload
@burntends
Not everyone can play it in their browsers. Not everyone has a PC or if they do one with the specs to play it.
I'm pretty sure P3R will come to the Switch as well. Nintendo might wanna announce it themselves in a direct (let's not forget, the exact same thing happened with persona 5 Royal. they announced the XBox version first. then later confirmed the switch release along with the ports of P4G and P3P).
@GameOtaku I played Yakuza 3-7 on gamepass cloud gaming on my 2011 MacBook Air. Also most people have a phone so they can do it there too. The only limitation is your internet speed.
I just don’t get why people trusted some random retailer and now are starting to conspiracy theorist speculate that oh man this means there’s a Nintendo direct coming where they’ll announce it. Like no if that was true tactica would be there too but they didn’t mind revealing tactica now did they?
Give it six months to a year and P3R will probably be on the Switch. The game uses Unreal so it might take a bit longer to optimize for it.
@Jamies I remember people saying that about Persona 4 when we were all waiting for 5. I would just give it time, once 6 comes out they'll forget all about 5 and milk that one for a while.
@HeadPirate You are aware Sega already owns Atlus right? So they would have to buy Sega. And while Sega has a good business relationship with Microsoft, they also have a good business relationship with Nintendo as well. Also I really doubt Sega Sammy wants to be bought, since they are doing just fine as is. Also its tough for American companies to buy Japanese companies.
@burntends
Yeah that cuts me and a lot of others out.
@GameOtaku Sorry to hear that. I figured the people on this website must have access to a device with a browser and that many of them do have some form of reliable internet access. So, you know, those interested parties would still be able to play the game even if it isn’t released for switch and they don’t have another console or a gaming pc. Sorry I was being so exclusive
@burntends
No I live in a rural area. Internet for cloud gaming is impossible. I have my phone for when I’m at work but that’s about it.
@GameOtaku Ok well that's a bummer. I guess what I was saying wasn't really directed specifically at you though. It was more a general statement about how it will be accessible to most people either way than it was a statement about whether or not GameOtaku will be able to play it. And why are you fussed? You said in another comment that you weren't interested in it anyways.
@burntends
I’m not really fussed over it I just wanted you and others with that mindset to understand that’s it’s simply not a good alternative.
@GameOtaku you mean it’s not a good alternative for you specifically. May I remind you that you are not the protagonist. None of us have to change our thoughts or speech to cater specifically to you. Because, believe me when I tell you this, there are hundreds of millions of people for whom streaming is a viable option if that is what they are inclined to do. You are a fringe case and not representative of the general population
—Just wanted to edit this to admit that the last line of that comment wasn’t my finest moment. I recognize that there are an enormous number of people in this world who don’t have access to reliable internet and that I am in a position of relative privilege. That said, what does it matter to you if those that are able to stream the game stream it? It has no effect on whether or not you have access to the game. We should not enjoy the experience just because you can’t?
@burntends
I do t get where you thought I said that shouldn’t be an alternative. I was simply saying that for many unless there’s a native port many are going to miss out on it due to the internet connection required that simply isn’t available. Which is why I’m a firm believer in physical for life and being able to own games rather than rent them as a service.
